well they arrived... and yes they are indeed Avon Storm ST AV56 160x60xZR17.

my invoice states that the unit price is supposed to be £95.99 and there is a note on bottom of invoice saying incorrect price on web and to amend...

Nice find. Price is still £70ish for a rear so going to try and order and see what happens.

Cheers

To save starting a new thread...will it be ok to temporarily have an OEM front and Avon storm rear? Does the construction match well enough?

Any advice appreciated.

An OEM Dunlop? I dunno about about carcass shape and construction, so won't comment on that.

BUT

As I understand it the OEM Dunlops are not very grippy and as a general rule it is not a good idea to have a grippier tyre at the rear than at the front. If your tyres are going to run out of grip (start sliding), you want the rear to let go before the front. A rear end slide gives you a bit more chance of correcting / saving and also tends to result in a gentler crash. If the front goes, it tends to dump you on the floor PDQ.

I await the experience of those who have tried this combo to correct me or agree with me.

Just got a set of storms from Busters, 120/190 for the other bike for just under £170 delivered. Ordered yesterday afternoon, told 5-7 days, arrived in Glasgow this morning. Sweet!

I have no problem mixing tyres. As needs must. Just don't expect to have a sweet handling motosickle. So ride accordingly. Feel it out gradually. (Although feel is something the plastic dunlop on the front does not have!)

If the front is about halfway I would bite the bullet and get a set. Nothing better to treat yer bike to. Bliss!

Worst thing about losing front is you slide in front of bike, and bikes slide faster than people because they're a heavy lump. So if you're going into a ditch the bike will land on you. Not good.

rear is not all rosy either as it highsides you 20 yards in the air, then lands on your head!

Don't crash :-P

I hope you didn't take 4 months formulating your response for my sakes! :) :) :)

I found some extra pennies and had a set of storms fitted a few months back! Impressed with them so far. I haven't tested them in snow yet, and I'm keeping it that way!

They are not doing them at that price anymore. They are selling the newer one at a higher price.

Just had a pair of Avon Storm 2's fitted to the loose rims by Protyre £194 and a few pence. Everybody down here wants about £30 to fit tyres to loose wheels or more to the bike.

They look awesome and bought them on the back of comments read about them here.

Get some miles in & report back how good they are, then? ;)

Okay Punyexpress.

Had a lovely ride yesterday to Dartmouth 2 up

My god talk about awesome, these tyres take me back to my old RD250 days when I used to wear away the footpegs every year. Lean angles and grip are fabulous. Not quite started to erode the "Storm" on the outer edge yet but it wont be long. :D :D

What has impressed me most is that poor/changes in road surface have little impact and does not "track" like bridgestones used to.
