Bling :D

New rider?

Take it easy, don't push to hard, let things naturally come and let the bike grow on you.

I still really rate my old SV for sheer fun factor without warp speed.

Awesome:D

If you need more gear, then HG have a sale on, I got a pair of gortex pants for £138, they are tricky 3 pants I think which is a sick price they are lush to wear. I also rate my Alpinestar SP2 gloves, not cheap but again so worth it when riding.

Few more photos and a video link to a youtube clip of it.

Loving it so far, collected it in torrential rain with a brand new back tyre having not ridden for 2 years and since my test, did Pirbright Bends which is the route home and was just wobbling about at 25mph ****ting myself.

Then later it brightened up and I really got to grips with it, hooting around all over the place. I also notice that every other biker is now your best mate, what is it with the bikers nod? lol

One thing though, no centre stand which is weird, only a side stand?

Re: My new SV 650 S

It was up at 3299 - I managed to take it for 3150 on finance with a new back tyre from a dealer with 3 months warranty. I think I have done ok but this is my first bike so not sure really.

Don't listen to what anyone else says, if you are happy with the bike, that's all that matters. :D

Re: My new SV 650 S

take it easy dizee on the new rear till its scrubbed in well.
it seems like a fair price from a dealer too, you always pay a little more but you do have the security that if somethings not right you can return it. your also less likely to end up with a stolen one wearing someone elses plate.

That's because it's a straight out Racing Sports bike ;)

Re: My new SV 650 S

Well, the bike has changed environment and is doing very well at the moment, very impressed with it. I have also bought a new cover which covers it beautifully. I do have some concerns over how safe it is as we live in the middle of nowhere - but, tis the best I can do...

With the cover being black aswell, it does tend to blend in quite nicely...

Post corrected for you, no need to thank me.

Nice looking bike, btw - I like the colour, for a non-black one of course ;).

I'm unsure if I like the SV650 with no lower fairings? Hmmm...

Dizeee 26-12-09 05:42 PM

Re: My new SV 650 S

I would love fully faired but not sure the cheapest way of achieving it. I am crap at fitting them myself and most accessories seem dear.

cbay 26-12-09 07:02 PM

Re: My new SV 650 S

I'm sure someone will correct me but I think you just need to purchase the bottom fairings and buy the fittings as the holes are already there I believe.

Have a mooch on eBay for some.

Which is a good price.

I cannot find any 2nd hand ones for my Curvy on Evilbay. OEM ones are available, but something like £400 :(

Re: My new SV 650 S

Dizzee is your bike parked overnight in the layby?

maybe you should look at getting some security to lock it to one of the fence posts - just an idea

Dizeee 26-12-09 10:34 PM

Re: My new SV 650 S

It is yes. Problem is those fences are next to horrendous ground, bumpy and overgrown by weeds.

I am not sure it is "that bad" there, I know it is not ideal but I see lots of bikes on display in the street, at least mine is down a dark country road and not very visible... (actually that could make it worse)

cbay 26-12-09 10:36 PM

Re: My new SV 650 S

Can't you secure it to your car or to that fence that is in the photograph?

Dizeee 27-12-09 01:20 AM

Re: My new SV 650 S

Not really - that car is one of many in that communal parking layby. No guarantee where any space will or wont be when riding.

The fence is railway property and also the area by the fence is very scruffy, undulating and overgrown etc. Even then it is a very flimsy fence - a "pathetic" border that is bendy and poorly made.

injury_ian 27-12-09 12:41 PM

Re: My new SV 650 S

LOL I know that layby.

Been down there a few times.

Could you put a chain round the telegraph pole/Bus stop overnight to secure it ?

Re: My new SV 650 S

No, cant improve the current situation. I have had loas of grief about where I leave it from my neighbours, even though it is communal parking. Its very unwelcome amongst the residents and could not block the pavements etc

pff, if its communal then they cant whinge too much. If they absolutely positively have to have a whine about something then make sure the can on that bike is nice and loud so they have got something to whine about.

Re: My new SV 650 S

Looks very good condition! Although regarding the price i paid £1950 for an almost identical bike from a private seller. Main dealers are rip off merchants if you ask me!

Oh and if you wanna replace those nasty head and sidelight bulbs, go here... www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk for some upgrade headlight bulbs (or hid kit if u can stretch that far) and led sidelights.
