NEC bike show 2009

So who is going?

I realise that honda wont be there, along with a few others but im still going. Its a good chance to meet up with the mates from back home, and they are coming for a night out in cov afterwards! hehe.

There should still be some stuff worth seeing, just a shame we wont be able to laugh at the new vfr1200

Might be going on one of the midweek days. Trying to work out which days SWMBO can make it so we can both go.

Not sure if I want to go or not?

It is worth it, even if you just sit on loads of bikes. You get a feel for new ranges etc, I tend to have a few bikes that I want to see, sort of new in the range etc, last year for me was to have an up close look at Gladius and a Street Triple.

This year, I'm not too sure yet, Honda aren't there so no Blade to sit on.

I guess if you are looking for a bike its good and aside from that its just to dribble and drool over the new ones.

I will probably see what we want to do closer to the time.

Not only that, there is cheap kit there, dirt bike show, last year - the wall of death, the Harley Davidson dancers, Race Paddock Quiz with various racing stars such as John McGuiness, Randy Mamola and Leon Camier.

It depends what your really into.

If your a riding and thats it person I wouldn't bother*, I've been going for the past 6 years, never missed one.

*Though you never know, you may enjoy it

Probably will be going , as i want to get a new set of gloves , boots and a helmet. After a Shuburth helmet, BKS gloves and Sidi boots.

Also want to speak to companies about getting track fairing for the ninja.
Also probably will buy some braided lines as well.

IMO its expensive to go if you are not after anything specific, but there are a few bargins to be had.

Not decided what day i am going probably the weekend.

Y'man talks sense. This year, in advance is £15 booking. Good job my grandad looks old enough to get in as a senior :) I'm looking for a few bargains.

On what basis?

Liam9188 22-10-09 09:36 AM

Re: NEC bike show 2009

On the basis of the one i used to own being crap, and not having a high opinion of any of my friends hondas. I don't like the stupid things they have done in motorcycle gran prix racing either, like that ridiculous NR500 or when they tried putting the tank underneath the engine and the exhausts over it, in a dummy tank. That sort of thing has always annoyed me, because its a bad way to work

Whats wrong with trying something different?

Re: NEC bike show 2009

I had a nsr125. mates have had a cg, a hornet, a cx500 and a vfr750

Ever tried to build something from scratch then use it immediately? they never work. Steady development is what its all about. hordes of small changes, all done knowing full well why you are doing them. they decided to try that because they thought a 'low centre of gravity' would improve handling. Its been proven many times it doesn't

Bar the hornet as I do not know what year that is and the CG, I think all the bikes you have stated, are not in production now.

But your personal experience is of one of their not so sucessful 125's?

I suggest you go down to honda and tell them what you think of their bikes and see if they can change your mind ;)

No I haven't. But hey, sometimes change can be a good thing. Trial and error. I agree maybe trying a whole new package was not the greatest idea, but at least they tried.

lol we are all students, we cant afford brand new anything. Mines the newest bike among us, and its an 02.

we generally buy something old and cheap, then do lots of miles and watch it break down and rust away

Yeh will be going, have done for the past 3 years. Not sure which day though.

Its worth while if you need any new kit, my mate picked up a 2pc Arlen Ness suit for £200 when we could only find it for £400 at least elseware.

Haha fair enough, like I say though, give them a chance, if all you have an idea on is some older models, try and get on one of their newer bikes.

'hello, I'm in the market for a CBR600rr'
'ahh, right this way sir, we have one out back ready for a test ride'

Simples ;)

Re: NEC bike show 2009

Sounds like fun even if i wouldn't be able to afford one for around 4 years. I might just do that when my restriction period is up. only problem is it would make me frustrated at my tired suspension and old chassis

No. Have been the past 3 or 4 years, I think the format is a bit jaded. I need a new pair of boots but nothing else, and it's not worth a day trip to the NEC plus the entry fee just for that.
