Good luck to those up north
The north of the country is supposed to be getting a months worth of rain over the next 24 hours which would lead to a heck of a lot of homes getting flooded out, i can only imagine what this would feel like & i hope the weathermen are wrong, if you are in one of these areas i wish you all the best of luck.

Re: Good luck to those up north
Ain't stopped feckin raining for two weeks! Everytime it comes to the weekend its bloody raining and i have to get the bike out for work. I tell you there is a big cloud over HX.
Today is the calm before the storm, if you can call it that, washing out on line, attached by a whole shelf full of pegs. Got to get the lot done today.....cause tomorrow it rains big time again :-( Glad I live on a hill though, the water passes my house by and floods everyone elses instead :-) |
Re: Good luck to those up north
We had severe floods in N. Wales yesterday morning that eased through the day. Although my son had a big scare on the way home from work yesterday evening when a flood was deeper than expected, good job his car has a snorkel fitted! The floods are exacerbated by high tides with the wind driving the tide up estuaries. :(
Looks like the latest storm has tracked a bit further north than forecast so we might escape today, although heavy rain predicted for us at lunchtime and afternoon today. Floods predicted for Friday and Saturday. Good luck to my son, who is driving to Carlisle today for a job interview. |
Re: Good luck to those up north
Overcast and mild wind in Durham.
God Speed to son of the Pants of Luck. |

Stranraer is in the red zone!! Dumfries and Galloway and Cumbria are now both in the red. But thankfully I am in central Scotland just now so I am missing the most of it! Or I would be working today! Not looking forward to driving home in it tomorrow though as it is supposed to be worse! |

Re: Good luck to those up north
It's being absoultuly hammering it down for the last 24 or more hours on the Isle of Man, roads be shut and re-opening all the time as water builds up, i went for a blast in the car and nearly lost it over a huge plain of water. Just gonna go and change me underpants now.

Re: Good luck to those up north
well we got sent home yesterday as our rural roads were starting to flood. The office looks like an island where the local river has burst its banks and flooded all around it but roads where fine so far but our guys have been out most of the night. Rains eased off here but we are due for another bucket tomorrow

Just saw on the news a rescue worker slinging a perky office girl over his shoulder and CARRYING HER to dry land. And then going back for her even perkier (with glasses) friend.
Woof woof! |

BBC News (subtitles) just informed me that "the pudding was of unprecedented style, the kind only seen every 1000 years."
That's some epic pudding. |
Re: Good luck to those up north
Jon's water rescue squad have been put back to standby as the poor policeman has been found. His group have dogs trained to find bodies underwater, so that is what they would have been doing.
I feel very sorry for the guy's poor wife and kids. |

Re: Good luck to those up north
Tried to get to cockermouth today and that was impossible on a bike or in a car(my car) I have a mate int he coast guard and he was out till 9 this morning, said that trying to cross the floods was nearly loosing them the in shore boats because the currents were that strong and the water was to high to walk through before you even got the where there was a current. Can't even get through workington after the northside bridge collapsed but on the bright side no one can go to the cinema tomorrow because apart from its closed there's no buses on and no trains so that means im not jimmed :D
