My New Bike!

As some who know me may have guessed....it wouldn't take long for me to get a new toy. Today, courtesy of Girth's work place, my good lady wife has purchased an early 30th Bday present for me. (Not bday until August!!! lol)

So, I am now the proud owner of a Triumph 955i Daytona. Its got 20k on the clock and just been fully serviced, new tyres and loads of other work has been done by the dealer. Anyways, not named or "sexed" it yet.....but here it is......(apologies for pics...taken on mobile).

Nice bike Drew, let us know how you get on with it. I have spent a few hours looking at them in Autotrader in the past myself, but I like the Mustard Yellow colour they did from 2007 onwards model, or black.

The garage has let us bring all the documents back home with us and on looking at all the service history and invoices it has had its value clearances done 4000 miles early at the last service in November. I can't believe what a little gem this bike is!

Shhhh I've told him the long distance weather forecast looks fine ;-)

Re: My New Bike!

Cheers all. Really really chuffed with it. The only thing is we live in a house with no garage in a dodgy area. So insurance quotes on a TPFT basis are coming out at about £210. Fully comp is getting silly, so will be sticking with that.

Re: My New Bike!

Plus......TBH.....the quotes I was looking at only made a £45 difference by garaging it. Plus, by playing with quotes, I've managed to raise the value (based on autotrader prices of course) to £2900 with no difference. So if worst case something happens to it, then I have more lee way at the beginning to sort it. Its with Carole Nash so added bonus of full breakdown and recovery.

The carport we have is hidden away from the main road. The bike has a full alarm, datatag, will have 2 chains, a zena disc lock alarm and a bike cover. I very very much doubt an opportunist will get through any of that, as the minute they disturb the cover, my neighbours will hear. There is normally always a neighbour here too. If it is a commited profesional theif it aint gonna stop them, so that is what the insurance is for.

Congrats in joining "Brit Iron"--a very underestimated bike which will produce a large grin factor for sure.A bit more poke than an SV SO BE GENTLE---------ENJOY:cool:

Drew Carey 31-01-10 09:08 AM

Re: My New Bike!

Will be gentle....due to collect on Saturday when its due to snow!!!! Luckily its Mway home.....but will certainly be taking it steady. It will then be cleaned and polished within an inch of its life, then put under cover till the salt goes bye bye.

Ed 31-01-10 09:32 AM

Re: My New Bike!

You can keep it in my garage. Now there's an offer you can't refuse:D

Drew Carey 31-01-10 10:07 AM

Re: My New Bike!

Its ok Ed.....bit too far.....I have a garage 4 miles away I could use, but, would mean a lot of "Kissing ****" and being nice to someone. Its not worth the agro......its also financially not much difference, will just make it as hard as possible to pinch.

Drew Carey 31-01-10 11:13 AM

Re: My New Bike!

Woo hoo....just spoken to Carol Nash and got the quote down to sub £200 whilst parked outside!!!! Yeah. No one else got close at all.

Just a thought on that one, if you value it at 2900 today, and it's stolen tomorrow, the insurance company will still make you an offer based upon a their valuation of the bike, not yours, but putting more won't get you a better payout if it is stolen.

True,

But you can always argue that replacing like for like will cost you the amount that you value your bike at.

I did this with the sv and in the end they gave in.
It did take ages though and I had to find examples of the same bike, colour, mileage, history etc but still worth bearing in mind.

Its a cracking bike, very clean and a bargain of a price. If I didn't have the SV i'd of had it!
