Road Rage.

Well ... I will be getting some before long !!! :p I'm not sure how much longer I can stay calm on my daily commute !!!! Its driving me mad .....

If I see one more person on their phone ..... reading a darn map .... doing their make-up ...... eating their breakfast......or even this morning - reading the papers :smt091 ........ and we're not talking sat in traffic, we're talking driving along A roads at 40mph !!!!!!

Don't get me wrong .... I'm not moaning ... I wondering how everyone else stays so calm .... I'm concerned I'm going to let rip one of these days ...

Any advice welcomed !!! :|

You'd be under my wheels if you tried that. I daresay I'm not the only one who'd do the same.

Observation also includes checking what drivers and doing and concentrating on .... I see these people when I'm filtering past, and I clock them in their own mirrors !! ...

Barwell ..... seriously ..... at least 1 in 3 people are doing something other than just driving, and you can normally spot them a mile off ......

so attempted murder and using a hand held mobile while driving, this wouldn't look good in court.

God it gets worse so whilst your filtering... At more than 40mph as that's the speed you said people were doing in your first post... You have time to look Into peoples cars and see people Reading a paper on their lap.

Meanwhile a car infront slams the brakes on or changes lanes and BAM your dead.

As for barwell, that could get expensive when someone gets your reg and you've knocked their £300 mirror off before leaving the scene of an accident. Maybe I'm just getting old but you can really tell who the younguns are on this forum recently.

Just chill out and concentrate on your journey and sod what everyone else is doing until they start drifting into your lane whilst doing it. Do your obs and move on.

BBadger 23-03-10 02:46 PM

Re: Road Rage.

Lk i have to do the same and am amazed at what i find people doing in their cars.
Many tend to look and stare at me in their mirrors so i know they can see me for sure, at this point they move over to make it impossible for me to filter, same in traffic.

Just calm down and unless they give you some agro dont bother as bike < car.

and to G ....im 18 ...dont give supid responses as i dont want to lowermyself to the level of the bloody cage commuters. that and moped drivers who dont understand right of way grrrrr

Neither does deliberately damaging somebody elses property, Remember chaps two wrongs dont make a right.

If somebody beat my mirror off. Damn well sure I'd be taking your registration and reporting you to the police. Whether I was in the wrong or not. Not everybody is calm like me. You might fnid that they do chase after you or they use their car as a weapon... its no good being right if your stuck under the wheels of a car is it.

Some of you need to take a fricken chill pill.

Keep the speed slow and remain vigilant is the best advice I've heard about filtering. I intend to do just that whenever I filter.

Are you trying to wind me up even more ??

Make up what little stories you want ... but when you are gently filtering past, its not difficult to see that someone is on their phone, or got a newspaper on the steering wheel ....

Chill out is the answer ... but FFS ... I wish the concequences for getting caught driving on the phone, etc, were A LOT more serious !! ...

Hands on brake/clutch as well, when you see someone indicating - stop. You can't be sure that they've seen you, better to stop for a few seconds and let them change lanes than get hit.
Apart from that, remember, everyone else on the road wants to kill you ;)

True but people will take desperate measures when the red mist descends... If your riding like a pratt looking your mirrors watching for the cager that you've just p*ssed off, you might well miss Mr Magoo pulling out in front of you and have yourself a nice car to motorbike interface.

and what proof would they have..

cctv is not going to catch me putting my toes on my pegs to lift my knee to just clip there mirror back

and im sertanly not going to hang around waiting for them to catch me up

im sorry but these people on phones need to know that we are about and in close distance of them

you can bash me all you want but at the end of the day its not going to change the way i feel about it

He has a point, especially as the police seem to be totally ineffective at implementing the no-phone law. And most of the other laws, while we're at it. Not bashing the cops, but the decision makers.

It's just a matter of being a pacifist and not wanting to kill them back that makes a good biker :P

I'm not making anything up. I am taking what you have said in previous post as factual information and working with it.

At the end of the day concentrate on your journey, make a mental note they arnt concentrating 100%, pass them and move on.

Re: Road Rage.

There's too many c*cks on phones to do anything about them all, but when some equal nobber tries to block your path THEN you can start crunching bits of their car, after all they visciously rammed their car into the side of you as you were making safe and legal progress. Disgraceful innit.

Or indeed if they are on the phone and weaving a bit. Trick is to go past quickly enough that if they wanted to sideswipe you they'd have to be pretty on the ball.

He has no point at all, apart from he's an immature little cretin who will learn the hard way sooner or later, and that gauranteed.

You can't start talking about somebody breaking a law because its suits you at the particular time.

Kicking someones mirror off is criminal damage, leaving the scene is also an offence. Doing 100mph+ on your make believe private ****ing runway is also illegal but all of thats ok... becuase it suits you.

People need to calm down and get on with their own lifes... you'll lead a much more relaxing enjoyable life that way.

i aint bothered if it doesnt affect me, but if someone pulls out on me or has done something to p*ss me off then they are at least getting hand gestures.

if they try and take me out on purpose, then sign me up for criminal damage as i would not take that on the chin.

100% agreed .... and hence I am trying to have a quiet word with myself (and have been) about 'its not worth it' !!!

I am a very calm person overall ..... rarely get really angry (sometimes get even  (but never by damaging other people possessions)) ....

I just wondered if other people get wound up ..... and what they do about it ??
Have a quick word at the traffic lights, give them the little wrist shake, or just ignore it .......

I'm all for just ignoring it ..... but thats not the answer either IMO ... these people need to have someone at least highlight their law breaking ...... because there are no traffic police out there to do it !!

As i find switching between A3 and 316 a few times a week just seems to ease thing out on the stupid driver front.

I base my opinion on all the crap you have posted in the past to be honest not just this post.

I don't need my own advice I'm more than calm, infact I am pretty much the most laid back person you could meet as a few people on here can verify lol.

Ignore it. Swear that under my lid. Look at them and shake my head and ride away. I often find its quite funny to give them a little friendly wave or a thumbs up. Then leave them wandering what it was I was waving at them about.

I used to get very very wound up and then I found I rode like a d1ckhead for the rest of my journey and put myself further at risk because I wasnt thinking about what I was doing as I was still seething from my previous encouter.

Two wrongs dont make a right though. Just because they are on the phone doesnt give you the god given right to go around removing peoples wing mirrors for them.

Whats that car driver going to do to the next biker that comes along, you've p*ssed them off already damaged their car, and put the rest of us bikers in a bad light as far as that car driver is concerned, Are they going to move over for the next biker or are they going to seek revenge against every other biker they come across ?
