Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
I hear he's a bit up himself but there is some good stuff in his books. Has anyone read them? Do you need vol 1 then vol 2 or is vol 2 a re-write of vol 1?
Cheers, Mark |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
I wouldn't suggest googling for the pdf ;)

Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Want to read it on the train. A printed PDF would not be nice and it may even be wrong. Apparently it's just the same as stealing a handbag or someone's car or so it tells me on the DVDs. Luckily if you download the DVD's the warning's not there allegedly.

Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Ive got V 1 and 2 and i find 2 is more "normal rider oriantated (SP) however i found i had to read a chapter at a time, then go a practice for a few days, while still readin that chapter, then go onto the next one, as i found readin in bulk, made me hea spin a bit, and id forget important points.

Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Chris,
The question is does v2 follow on from v1 or same stuff covered in a more accessible form? All the reviews say 2 is an easier read, but nothing is telling me if you have to read 1 before 2. Got a trackday coming up so best to completely over-fill my head with theory before I go and try it out. |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Vol 1 is more track oriented and vol 2 has more info for the road rider. As has been said you could do with reading a bit at a time and giving that a chance to sink in along with a bit of practise. You'll probably find yourself going back to the books at various intervals as well.
The presentation is very American though.... |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
oooops sowwie. no you dont have to read 1 before 2, it doesnt follow on at all really, well i didnt think it did, there are things that are the same, but theyre broken down more and make much more sense IMO in V 2. V 1 covers stuff like hanging off, and passing, very race focused stuff. While V 2 covers throttle control, and braking and vision, more road based, but can be used everywhere. Plus 2 is an easier read.

Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Ive got the dvd (2) and i have watched it 3 times now, but there is a lot to take in.
I like the way it shows you some of the myths you hear regarding how to corner and the effects etc. Its a bit cheesy but its american, what do you expect. |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
Cheers folks. Just won v1 on ebay and will prob buy v2 when I can get one cheap. If anyone has the DVDs for sale, please let me know.
Thanks, Mark |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
I have Vols 1, 2 and the Soft-science of Road Riding.
Neither Volumes 1 or 2 are track biased - it's just about cornering which you get on both roads and racetracks. Soft Science is way more track based with dealing with going through the same corners again and improving laptimes etc. I also wouldn't describe him as 'up himself'! Some of the language he uses can be a little cryptic at times, which is why a lot of people get on better with the DVD (If you can put up with the worst acting ever to grace a video camera ). I think there is a lot of useful information in his his books. I personally found Twist 1 more digestible and then read Twist 2 later. |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
oooh, I spoke to this guy on the phone today....was very nice and not at all up himself!

+1 Keith is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And if you meet him you'll find in the first 5 mins. he knows more about riding and riding theory, than you ever thought possible, I don't care how good you are. Top Bloke! Given me a few hours of free riding advice/instruction several times during the rain delays from back when I was a race reporter. I do find his school is geared more towards track riding. |
Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
I've read 1 and got 2 but not read it yet. I'd say 1 is more track-biased because it talks a lot about lap times and reference points, things you don't have much use for when you're riding a road you might not know very well. From what little I know, book 2 is more like the stuff they teach you at the school. Keith and the other guys and gals at the school are among the last people you'd call up themselves. Too many people in the biking world are just so pompous because they're an ex-racer or whatever as though they had two nobs or something, it's good to meet people so serious about doing what they do who are still friendly and helpful to even the most ham-fisted spod.

Re: Keith Code - Twist of the Wrist
i have read a bit of vol 2 and watched the dvd, alot of good stuff there imo, just alot to take in at once as well, you wanna pick a point practice it, then move on to the next imo, rather than all at once.
