Dave Preston type rant...

Is it just me? Seriously? Is it me? Because not many other people I speak to seem to ever have experienced as much crap that I have in the space of 10 years or so?

I am sick of it. I am fed up of fighting. Just when I think that I am starting to get my head around something that happened 10 years or so ago, something happens and knocks me right back to bloody zero! I appreciate life will never be easy, it makes us who we are but I would like a little bit of...well, relief to just give me a bit of respite and a chance to deal with my ever mounting baggage.

I am not naive enough to think I have had the worst life. I know other have had to put up with much more. BUT why is is that I seem to attract people who are going to do nothing but hurt me? Nothing but betray me and make me feel small and worthless?

Sometimes, like tonight, I wonder, seriously, what is the point? And on nights like this I really am tired of fighting.

I just wanna lie down.

Aww...sorry hun. :grouphug:
Everyone feels like that at times.
Can't depend on others to make you happy.
As long as you do you'll always be disapointed.
Got to be happy all by yourself no matter what others think or do (or not do).
Learn to cut the losers in your life free. If they aren't worth your time get rid of them. Don't wait till they drag you down because the world is full of them.
And cut the baggage loose as well. The past is in the past. Don't let it ruin the future too.

In short , let go of (get rid of) the bad things, all the bad things in your life and move on. You'll never regret it.
Only you can make you happy. Tomorrow is a brand new day.
The things , the people that drive you crazy, don't deal with them, let them go, leave them in the past.

MBK,60+ years and every time there is a light at the end of the tunnel it is usually another train coming. Afraid that is life and you just have to make the best of it.
No wondrous answer but providing you are doing your best sod the rest and just make life as easy as you can for yourself.Things that may seem important at the time have a way of fading into insignificance with time and not that crucial in the general scheme of things

Depressing but I love that saying, never heard it before... but will use it in future.

MBK chin up my loverly, alkaseltzer the morning in. Then embrace the day, your world is what you make it.
Rather than fighting off the bad, go and seek the good.

You should try the "how much vodka can I drink, before I need a sip of coke" game.

Essential Equipment:
Vodka,
Coke,
Bowl!

When I post when I've had a few my typing is interesting and the arguments are incoherent. Your typing is excellent and the arguments do follow, so I don't believe that you had too much to drink.

Isn't it about time to get a grip on your life, dump the baggage, and move on? If you did this and found some friends that you could trust - for starters, there are several very reliable people on here near you - then you wouldn't need to fight. Wouldn't those destructive energies be beter focused in a constructive way?

I've often posted on here about how and why it happened to me and I'm not going to bore everyone now. Suffice to say that I left home for the first time when I was 17. With the benefit of hindsight going back was a mistake but getting that grip and leaving for the second and last time at 21 was not.

BanannaMan's post is spot on. You need to dump the baggage and stop fighting, you will end up an emotional wreck.

Yes it can be hard, very hard, because it has to come from you. But once you've taken the drastic action needed you will find that your self esteem rises enormously. You don't need a bunch of losers on side, so tell them to **** off - and build yourself a new life. You seem to have much to offer, just go and offer it instead of allowing yourself to be a doormat.

And quit the whiny public 'poor me' posts. They make you look weak, ineffective, stupid, one of the losers that seem to be dragging you down. You might think me harsh - but a critic is often your best friend.

None of this is easy, so if you need help, why don't you start off with your GP? They probably have an in house counselling service.

You need to give yourself a big kick up the jacksy.

Get positive and independent. Then you can quickly identify and dump the loosers/users.

You are only young, have the potential for a full career path to open for you. Grasp those opportunities available and leave the old you behind.

Harden up girl.

I disagree Ed, dunno about MBK but after a few, my good judgement and inhibitions disappear way before my coherence. It can be quite dangerous at times.

Yep..it's not good. I have, on a few occasions, said things, which were very coherent, and ended up in a great big deep hole! Then have to try and pretend I don't remember the next day.....:smt100

I made this jump a few years ago when I moved away from west yorkshire... Still in touch with a lot of my really good friends but they've all moved away or are in different parts of the world now.

Then there was the other group of 'friends' I had who were absolute crap. I was full of encouragement when they had new ideas or were looking for better jobs etc... but whenever I talked about my own ambitions it would be the same old "Don't be stupid" or "haha what a ridiculous idea paul". They also made a point of talking about my ex infront of my g/f at the time and that caused no end of crap for me - even when I said 'can you please just watch what you say when she's around 'cos you're causing me grief' rather than 'yeah no worries mate' it would be 'I don't see why I have to edit what I say just for her'...

Needless to say they got dumped and I've been better off/more prosperous/achieved more and happier ever since...

Hope you're ok dude & hopefully life will unravel itself soon :)

Re: Dave Preston type rant...

Nic, I said it last night and will say it again this morning...some people will tell you things not because they are ding you a favour, but because they like being in a position of knowledge....I good friend will not just stick up for you, but would never let you know. It's like a way of saying, "look at me, aren't I great because I stuck up for you"...when they are actually just making themselves feel important.

These people aren't friends, no matter how much they may mean or have meant to you.

People on here are saying all the things I have said to you...just in a more direct way which is a good thing to hear.

There's nothing wrong with posts like this in my opinion, people have bad times and sometimes sharing that is the only way to get it out of your system to save it boiling up.

What I really want you to do though and I can see it coming one day is to just say a great bi giant F**K OFF to your whole world. It doesn't have to be permanent and it doesn't mean moving away (although your room is ready;-) ), it just means that you reach the absolute end of your tether and you STOP giving a damn about anyone or anything but yourself for a while. You'll still do your job and be a nice and good person and help people the way I know you do....but for those that deep down you know don't deserve the time of day, you just won't give it to them anymore. When you hear snide comments, you'll laugh to yourself that these people have such boring lives that they have to live theirs through you. You'll have someone let you down and when they try to weedle their way back in to your life, you'll just shut the door in their face. Not slam it with a big argument or lengthy conversations, you'll just stop listening and tell them to please just go away, you don't care anymore.

You have no idea how much Dan and I care about and love you Nic.....I was so close to getting in the car and following you up to Scotland to pack your bag and bring you home at one point I cannot tell you...but it wouldn't help. You need to make the decision to stop caring about all these people that don't care about you yourself and you know where that has to start!

If you trust me on one thing for the rest of your life, trust me on this Nic.....you CAN do this. Happiness isn't a life free from trouble. Happiness is a life where we accept the bad and enjoy the good!

Oh.....and I love you, did I say that already? I don't care, I'll say it again...I love you. You ARE an amazing person.....no-one can flame me for being soppy saying that because I don't give a s*** what they think....and one day you won't. Everyone that has met you cannot say anything but good things about you...those are the people you need in your life....the ones that have chosen to have you there!

Ok.....I'll stop now. Go easy on her people.....she really has had one of the worst 10 years of life for someone her age that I know of and many of you will know what some members of my family have been through. Nic is a credit to no-one but herself for the person she has become, depsite her life so far!

Chin up girl. Lots of people at some point or another feel the same way, I know I have done, you'll get there in the end. I went away to Ireland and had some 'me' time, playing lots of music and drinking perhaps a little bit too much  and when I came back I was able to deal with people, things, everything, and live has improved every day since then.

It may be a bold statement, it may be true but as I am not willing to share my experiences then who knows! GG and some others on here know what I have been through. Like I said on my original post, I am not naive enough to think my life is the worst or my experiences the worst.

The idea of getting away sounds good. I am tempted to book some time off work and go a tour of the lakes or something, just me and my ipod.
