Not Happy - N.I.P'd
Received a N.I.P in the post yesterday :smt013
(Not related to last weekends Porlock adventures). In my defence I was going up a hill and there was no-one else on the road, but fair enough I was over the posted limit (although not by a lot). I entered the major road from a minor road (LFT turn) after the point where the national limit on the major road drops to 30. The 30 limit is signed on the minor road before my lft turn as it should be... What's boiling my p+ss is (and I'm sure the friendly officer had put his camera signs out) I didn't pass any camera signs... I imagine they were on the major road near the end of the national limit. So where was my warning? And although I appreciate I wouldn't have a leg to stand on, how could I prove that I had no warning? Or is it simply the case that the officer has to prove he put signs on display? The other thing is... No matter how many times I go over it in my mind I don't remember seeing anyone on that part of the road - apart from a biker who was sat in a petrol station/shop opposite the minor road I turned out of. For those that know it - Garrison Hill, A32 southbound entering Droxford. I turned out of the road that runs through from Denmead. |
Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
Unfortunately they no longer need to display signs warning motorists they're collecting donations...

You could choose to have your day in court and look for a loophole, the limit must have had the right Traffic Regulation Order completed correctly and all signage must meet standards, but tbh you will probably find the 3pts will make effectively no difference to your insurance or to any situation where a "clean license" is a consideration |
Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
I know it, i was done just after that nearly 2 years back. I'd say the a32 is now heavier scammered than the a272
bad luck lionel :( |
Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
Perhaps your Porlock NIP is also in the post ;)
On the issue of scamera vans; I passed one yesterday on a straight dual carriageway miles from any entries/exits. Why don't they position themselves outside schools/in built up residential areas? P.S. I'm so pleased he was just setting up. Having just received a come quick phone call as mum-in-law was being taken into hospital I was travelling er very very quickly - 110mph - keystroke error, should read 70mph. |
Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
I thought plumber don't need the camera sign etc to wave their blowlamps. Scamara vans etc do need to have camera warning signs.

Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
AFAIK, like TLW says, there is no requirement for plod to have signage, signage is required for a camera van but not speed guns that either bike cop or traffic cop would have and if they were unable to follow you for some reason then it is perfectly in order for them to send a NIP to you.

Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
correct me if i'm wrong but a guy with a mobile gun would want to be seen as they would not be able to take your picture, the van must have been hiding behind a bush or something behind you to actually take your picture and get your reg plate (assuming that you were on the bike of course).

Did the guy with the tri pod look like nothing more than someone doin a levelling survey? I've seen police with those never thought they were doing speeding, god job I'm a good boy, I assumed it was tax or similar and the tri pod had a telescope on it.

Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
Unluckeeeeee
In fairness, we all know that the A32 & 272 are prime targets for scameras - still a ****er though:mad: |

http://www.snellandoslund.com/images...uipment-01.jpg Only reason the police would have one is for accident investigation, if you saw someone in hi-viz with one they were probably just surveying, but if they're anything like me they won't bother with signs as the retards actually slow down if there's a chance they might get a ticket... |

Returned the NIP confirming my guilt, so will await my comeuppance...
Hopefully a driving awareness seminar thingy. |
Re: Not Happy - N.I.P'd
My mate was going down the A32 just joined it from Alton and fully admits he was doing roughy 90 when you enter he first 30 limit (before bahnstormer BMW). Old plod on a bike steps out with his hand raised and naturally my mate thinks he's been done. Turns out the copper just wanted a hand picking up his bike that he'd just dropped on the floor....Karma perhaps?

Nope I meant a levelling survey, the equipment is very similar looking to a theodolite, only a, it's easier to spell an b, more people have some idea about what it is. Even if they're mistaken about what they think they saw jo public would still say they saw someone levelling or doin a survey regardless of if the equipment was a level a theodolite or a ts. As I don't know if the op is familiar with the specific trade tools it's seemed logical to refer to it as levelling equipment rather than seem like a know it all smart tart.
