Brake reservoir sock - purpose?

Does it serve any real purpose other than looks?

I have read many a "reason" but most of it sounds like BS.

Not true, I have first hand experience that when the sock is applied to brake master cyclinders that there is a instant doubling in BHP from the engine!! Magic they are...well recommended.

They are used to stop the brake fluid from spreading on the track of the bike goes down and it breaks. On the road they do nothing.

Best definition Sid

the degrading of brake fluid is a urban myth to an extent as the factories wouldn't put them their if that happened

Re: Brake reservoir sock - purpose?

listen your all worng. it keeps the brake fluid from getting cold so your brakes are "pre warmed up" for instant super braking :)

Why would anyone nick one in the 1st place.

Could be a long competition.
