One from the local news (biker locked up)

Thought this might have been of interest to a few people, sentence is a disgrace for more or less trying to kill the bloke - people get more than that for fraud! |

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Doh!
Just googled it can't find the article anywhere else now. Basically a cockerel on a sportsbike went for a (more than) dodgy over take on another biker, truck comes round the bend; **** overtaking barges the other chap out of the way but the chap he tries to knock out of the way gets entangled in his bike and get dragged a fair distance. Biker spirit eh? |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Sounds like a delightfully polite gentleman...

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
The sentence seems shockingly light for almost killing a man, costing him his job, and giving him permament injuries.
:( |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
tragic no wonder bikers get a bad name when there is people like him on the road.
14 months in jail but only a 3 month ban WTF so his ban will be up when he gets out. should have been a 3 year ban. the man is a disgrace to the biking fraternity. |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
banned for 3 months, is that a joke, seems like the judge should be jailed as well for being incompetent.
|
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
14 months (out in 7) 3 month ban for almost killing two people.
Should be in for a dam sight longer. No wonder we do get a bad name if p****s like him try and outwit a 40 ton tanker |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
A friend of mine's 20 year old son has recently been jailed for dangerous driving - 6 months inside for his first offence, he's never even picked up a parking ticket. An unmarked car with a lone copper tried to flag him down because of his badly spaced personal plate but he kept going and went a bit quicker than the speed limit to get home at 2am thinking it was some chancer. Ten minutes before he went into court a bloke got a conditional discharge for a serious assault on his girlfriend.
Makes you wonder what's happened to this country's justice system. I'm getting more and more disillusioned by it every day. |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Jesus Christ .......... he even looks like a right Charlie Hunt as well . If that was me he would be having a "Welcoming Commitee" waiting for him on the steps of the prison when he is released ........... oh and when you do get out in 14 months time and are vain enough to do a search about yourself and see this thread , I`d be more than happy to come and talk to you about this post .

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Unbelievable. Was the charge correct? GBH? There is no doubt the guy would have been fully aware that this was potentially fatal. This is not knocking three sheets out of someone and putting them in hospital, he only stopped because the victim managed to get a hold of him and drag him off the bike. This guy was going to carry on until the victim died. Shouldn't he have been done for attempted murder?

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Reading this quote from the article has saddened me
“It was horrific, I thought I was going to die. He knew I was attached to the bike but he didn’t stop - he even looked down at me and continued riding.“I could smell my flesh burning as I was being dragged along. “Bikes have been my life and I cannot believe a fellow motorcyclist would do what he did to me - it has sickened me.” What is wrong with people these days? |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
I bet PC Adrian Hopkinson never said that and it was the media guys from his force that released those comments!!!
I have apparently made comments in the press before when actually, no, I didn't! |

Fellow bikers is a bit of an oxymoron these days, some of the so-called bikers out there are no mates of mine.

Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
this is assault with a deadly weapon, its ridiculous, if i was to not hurt anyone and rob a jewellers at 3am, i would get probably 3 yrs.
and only banned from driving for 3months?!?! he should never be allowed to be in charge of any vehicle for the rest of his life, he couldve stopped the bike and been a half decent person, call ambulance, make sure he is alrite, etc etc, some people dont deserve the privelage of using a motor vehicle. |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
Oh man, horrible horrible behavior... Really saddened that people can be so cruel to do something like this. Unbelievable that a person can behave in this manner. How can one be so self centered to consider acting as such?!?! :(
Regarding the prison and ban part, I really don't think "justice" has anything to do with things anymore and it just goes to prove once more how twisted and out of touch with reality the schemes of society really are. Of which, the law is a big f***ed up part, btw. |
Re: One from the local news (biker locked up)
My first thought was that there must be more to this or they would have brought a more serious charge.Perhaps the evidence was'nt robust enough to get a conviction?
What it does show is that we concentrate for too much on the actual result of a piece of appauling behaviour rather than on the behaviour itself. If the victim had been killed he would have gone down for manslaughter or death by dangerous driving and be doing five or six years. However, the victim survived so he only gets fouteen months for exactly the same behaviour. Its the behaviour that needs punishing, not the lottery of what the result was. |

It's like attempted murder with a gun, shot fired with intent, guy lives by a miracle, should sentence be any different because he was lucky and managed to survive ? Hes a c**t and should be dragged that distance himself see how he likes it. |
