EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

The sun will be shining, I'll have petrol in my tank, new MOT, and I've been riding like an old woman since my surgery, so a group rideout will be just the thing to get me back on form (even tho' I can't get my knee down :-()

Anyone fancy it??

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Cool :p

I dont know the roads other than those here to the west, so feel free to suggest a route, even if its just Hunny for chips again!!!

kaivalagi 26-05-11 06:41 PM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Hunny for chips sounds good, I liked the Gayton road east of kings lynn last time we did that....the roads around outwell and the river are nice and bendy too, just 50mph almost everywhere....

I am up for anywhere to be honest as long as it's not a million miles from Norwich...meeting at the Red Lodge Cafe or Maccy D's near Swaffham is cool just to give you an idea of do-able locations. In some ways I'd prefer somewhere I don't know so I get to sample new routes/roads...

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Something like, Red Lodge, across to A134 Thetford to Stradset, over to Swaffham, take Robs road to Gayton, the the scenic route to Hunny to be robbed of a quid to park.

I'm off, but will have to see what Mrs Maviczap is working, so I'll know tomorrow when I get home

So a possible

TBH not sure if I can actually make it. Need to find a decent run from Red Stodge to Thetford avoiding the A11.

1st stab at getting a basic route onto google here

74 miles all in from red lodge to Hunstanton, sounds about right considering we are all travelling atleast that to and from anyway :)

170 miles all in for me :)

And no this is not me volunteering to lead the ride....I'll leave that to the more experienced and well mannered ;)

edit: Do you think there is a little more room for more meandering on the roads before getting to hunny? After the Gayton road to Kings Lynn we could cut back towards Fakenham (A148), and up to Brancaster before heading west to hunny? Makes it about 100 miles instead

Route looks good Kai, either version :-)

Any volunteers to lead, theres no way im up to it, I havent had a proper ride out since AR10!!!

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Delete the A149 at Lynn. From Gayton we need to cut across to hillington take a right on the A148 the left onto the B1153 (I think) to brancaster, then the A149 left to Hunny.

Here you go

Now using the B1153 to Brancaster and skipped the A149 bit at Kings Lynn (40 limit is it?)

Crap road, full of traffic.

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Got my Mot in the morning and if all goes well i should be able to make this. If you want i can come up with some more interesting roads between points D and F on the map the current ones are a little boring and straight. we could head through shouldham, Marham, Narborough, narford hall and south acre all more intersting back roads. I'll head along them at the weekend and make sure there ok

Please do! Post up a new link when you have something as I am trying to keep a copy of good routes if I can :)

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Well Mot went fine my rear brake light pressure switch was a little dodgy but he let me off with it, i'll get round to changing it at some point. I'll try and get out on the bike this weekend and scout out some roads round here to use on the 12th. would have done today but the wife was night shift last night so i had to get back to watch the kids so she could get some sleep

Reeder 01-06-11 01:52 PM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Right, if I get my tyre changed it rains on the day I'm not going to be pleased... cos I'll end up not going as I'm putting another race scrub on!

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Hopefully this works LINKY Don't know why it doesn't want to let me go straight on at the junction at narborough and takes us onto the A47. I'll head out this weekend just to make sure all the roads are suitable in the link are suitable and not covered in mud or gravel

kaivalagi 02-06-11 08:28 PM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

I couldn't make it play ball with that junction either....here's the route with the full journey and your nice b road bonanza in the middle :)

I added a few more destinations to make sure the route is followed with whatever is used...

Reeder 02-06-11 11:27 PM

You all better be happy... My new tyre is on and I'm picking my wheel back up tomorrow!!

kellyjo 03-06-11 06:13 AM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

OH Reeder, its not true what they say about you, you really DO know how to make a girl happy :p

Just hope I can make it now, should have had surgery on tuesday but it was cancelled and been rescheduled for the 9th. Hopefully I wont be too sore after :-(

Routes looking good, the only road I know is the one into hunny :-) cant wait :p

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Brandon will no doubt be very busy.

Reeder 03-06-11 08:14 PM

I found out today that putting a rear wheel back on is ALOT harder than getting it off in the first place (especially after an hour at the gym straight after work and no food!).

maviczap 03-06-11 08:16 PM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

Obviously more gym work is required

Have you got some blinding weather forcast that says its going to be frickin cold or somemat ;)

Its June, you won't need heated grips, we're not ridin North of the artic circle, just Sunny Hunny

kellyjo 04-06-11 09:44 AM

Re: EAR Rideout - Sunday June 12th??

I still find, even on the warmest days, that early starts or late finishes can result in chilly hands, especially if theres a shower and my gloves get damp. It would be stupid to be out on the bike with cold hands and heated grips sitting in a box on the kitchen worktop!!

Besides, its too late now, i've just put them on \\:D/
Havent wired them into the ignition cos playing with wiring's proper scary, but they have led's and the switch is next to the ignition key so I should realise if take the key out and havent turned them off........ hopefully

Here's an alternative route sticking to the B1112 through Lakenheath rather than carrying on the A1065 through Brandon....the B road has a few 30 limits along the way but from street view it seems to be fairly interesting in between them....anyone used this road? Would it be the better option?

edit: Here's a prepared TomTom ITN file for the route, I might give it a go either today or tomorrow if I can escape :)
