Back in the (SV) saddle again!

Hello Everyone.

I happened across this SV650 in the for sale section and bought it. I couldn't resist it as I love these little twins as I suspect many of you do!

Its hooked up to an optimate now and sadly that's all I can do at present as I've got to go out for the day shortly. During the week I hope to get it running and ready for the MOT which I'll book in for next weekend.

I like the contrast between the panels and the wheels, looks good. Happy riding. ;-)

Cool - maybe paint the frame to match the wheels.

Glad it went to a good home! I was going to buy it, but stumbled upon one much closer to home which i bought instead.

Did you take the GSXR front end too?

No I didn't ask about that. I think someone else had it though looking at the for sale thread? Funny but I wasn't that interested in it but now i own the bike i'm thinking I should have! New bike enthusiasm I suppose! :p

Got it all working properly today. :)

Fitted some led indicators I was given with the bike and they are absolute crap. I'll be binning them in favour of some ordinary bulb types I think.

My LED number plate bolts turned up today though and just waiting on a bracket for the new legal number plate (temp for MOT) and then its readu to be MOT'd.

I had a quick number plateless ride around the block and all seems fine. Exhaust is a bit noisy so just hope the tester isn't worried about it as I dont have a baffle anywhere.

Rear sets are a bit much for me but I suppose I'll get used to them?

Also gave it a bit of a clean and it came up very well considering its been sitting about for a couple of years.

Couple of pics, :D

orange seat and suzuki decals would set that off really nice-that and a clean of the bottom yoke!

Apart from the yokes already mentioned, she's looking bloody good!!!

Is that a Scorpion carbon can? Looks identical to mine, just without the badge, I have no baffle in mine earlier and it is a wee bit on the loud side, but i doubt any half sensible tester would have a problem with it!

Yup yokes and ork lowers really need cleaning up but no biggie. Exhaust is a Zorstec. First I've heard of them but nice quality.

Its got goodridge lines, rebuilt calipers, nice underrtay and although originally I hated the wheels and nearly passed it by because of them I really like them now!

I commute into London on a Tmax which is sort of feet forward riding position, so then getting ontop this with its rearsets and Renthals angled forward is really alien to me. I'm wobbling about like Bambi! :p

Going to replace the camchain tensioners with later ones for peace of mind buts thats about it. Pretty damn pleased with it to be honest.

Sweet!

Re: Back in the (SV) saddle again!

She passed the MOT on Saturday. Indicators were more white than yellow and the brake light switch needs adjusting/cleaning but everything else was okay. Stuck some new indicators on there and binned the old ones. New ones flash too fast though! Brake light switch seems to be working better through use.

Bike seems okay apart from the low fuel light staying on which is annoying. Throttle cables need lubing but cant think of anything else to crab it over. :D

Re: Back in the (SV) saddle again!

Bit of a change of opinion now! Came out of work and the battery was flat. Managed to get it bump started and started to ride home. About 15 miles from home the linkage rod came undone and fell out! rode home for 40 miles in 2nd gear. ho hum.

Anyone got a linkage rod for sale? The bike has Racer Supply rear sets if that makes any difference? ROd needs to be approx 6.5" long.

Bought a new linkage rod online last night at 10 o/c from Robinsons foundry. Got an email at 10:06 this morning saying my item had been dispatched! Thats pretty impressive. http://www.therevcounter.com/images/smilies/smoking.gif

Re: Back in the (SV) saddle again!

For a variety of reasons I haven't really ridden the bike any sort of distance. Well after fitting new iridium plugs and fresh fuel etc I took the SV out for a blast today. Rode well and I was pleased with it. Couple of niggling things i need to iron out though.

Whilst the bike pulls strong and cleanly through the gears, it is a bit messy at slight throttle opening when holding a steady speed. It also back firs a lot on the over run. When idling there isnt that steady beat of a twin it sounds like its stumbling a bit on one cylinder?

Is there a limiter on these? I thought I felt a bit of a misfire at high revs when putting it through it spaces but it may be I was hitting the limiter?

Any ideas on the above?

One thing for sure I soon realised why this is my third SV. They really are a cracking and usable bike :smoke:

Also the low fuel light is permanently on. Is it new sensor time?
