IOM TT Official Review 2011
I got the DVD set for Xmas and have started watching it. Watching it sends shivers down my spine at some of the speeds they do :smt118
I'd love to go see this live one year |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
The missus and I were talking about going to this in 2012 but following all the hype of the film, we're probably gonna skip it until the following year.
Instead, Sachsenring GP in 2012! Looking at a 1800mile round trip ride out :D |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
We are going again next year and can't wait :) there are only so many ferry and plane spaces so it can't be busier than previous years.

Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
I read they're adding additional stands so they must be expecting bigger numbers I imagine rather than catering for existing? Anyway, have fun!

Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
I'm going in 12, been saying i'll go for 2 years.
The steam packets are flat out over the TT as i'm having fun getting over for first practice. |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
Flights booked, accommodation booked, holiday time booked....

Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
I don't do the TT, but have booked for the Southern 100. It's a lot quieter, mass starts & some fantastic racing around the 4 mile circuit :)

Any guidance Mike, folks? Prefer B&B to camping but I'll rough it if I have to. |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
You will be hard pushed to get a b&b now I'd think especially in Douglas but you might manage further out but still on the circuit. They obviously bump the prices up for the fortnight.
Have you looked into a home stay? I used to stay at a couples house in onchan, just by governors dip. This year we are camping again though for 8 nights (I think) then hotel for one as the campsite is shut the day before we are due to travel home. |

Most stuff goes early on, but there are some pre-pitched camp sites that spring up where you can book a bed/tent quite late on. The TT website is a good place to start looking if you know nowt about the island. You could go for a day on Simon's RIB like we did last year, see here for booking details for this year.... See also here for Y-C's write up of his trip by RIB last year http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=167583 |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
For those on budget but with a love of road racing may I suggest the NW200.
GOOD POINTS TT riders use this as a testing ground for the TT bikes so you can still see your favourite big name riders and they don't just take it easy, they want to win! If you stay outside of Portrush/Portstewart the hotels/b&b are cheap and not too crowded. If you get the Dublin ferry and ride up to Northern Ireland it is ALOT cheaper. Awesome atmosphere NI is the best place in the world ever BAD POINTS Likelihood of rain is high Bomb threats |
Re: IOM TT Official Review 2011
Oohh NW200, now that may be possible. My family have been nagging me to go to Ireland. mmm combine the two? Thanks mate, I just might do that.
I'll take an Umbrella and a keep my fingers crossed on both bad points. |
