Any one done anything "useful" over the break?

Feeling smug - I finally finished putting cabling round the house so you can put on a Bluray on in the lounge and watch it in the kitchen or dining room or bedroom as well. Floorboards upstairs were heavier than they looked!

A couple of the runs are too long for HDMI cables. Bought some HDMI to Cat5 adapters and ran Cat6 cables to the further away TVs. Bought some RJ45 ends and a crimping tool and made up the cables myself (double smug!!)

Saturday- bike into a multitude of bits
Monday- Shed tidied properly (I love sweet tins!!), leak on the carbs fixed (new bolts in the bowls), front subframe once over'ed (never checked after me off)

Today- Work for a couple of hours, mothball inspection and a deep clean
Tomorrow- Fire alarm test in the morning (oh joys), bodywork to the painters

Aside from giving my liver/kidneys a good workout, I've almost finished decorating the front bedroom. I've got x2 more before baby arrives but plenty of time for that.

I removed the skin from the knuckles on my right hand.

Yes, I changed the spark plugs on the SV and I still hate the front plug.

Re: Any one done anything "useful" over the break?

I stayed absolutely silent from 8pm on 24th December until 7pm on 27th December - I didn't utter a single word to any living thing for a whole 71 hours, mainly because I didn't see anyone for that length of time.

Now that has got to be the biggest favour to mankind ever.

I only broke my silence because my housemate came home and asked a question that required a long answer, then he buggered off again after 5 minutes :-(

Something I need to do as well, but I was going to use 200mbps homeplugs instead of long cable runs.

Finished building my winter bike(bicycle) and went out for a ride on Boxing Day

I washed and polished my Versys and the company FJR, but I don't class that as useful.

Valve check on Sylvie, then fitted a new tank pad and cleaned out the garage. Two days off from work, felt like I needed much more.

Versys - no corrosion because it was doused in ACF50 a while ago.

Yamaha - no more corrosion than I'd expect on a 50K mile 02 bike.

I think this is the first winter it's seen. Looks like most of the miles were done in summer.

Well yesterday I cleaned my garage out, put some brackets on the wall to hang my 8 different hammers on :)

I fixed my 24v Bosch hammer drill as a wire had come off the soldered plate on the motor.

Bodged some bits together to use my paddock stand with my DRZ...

Finally I noted down all the model numbers of my tools that need attention so im gonna order some spares for them.

Productive day. :)

Fruity-ya-ya 29-12-11 11:06 PM

The one thing i'm missing in life is a garage stuffed full of tools. Maybe one day
