Dakar 2012
Anyone else on here getting excited about the Dakar? Just watched 'Dakar; Road book' and I so can't wait...
The lunacy that it takes to do it astounds me. Its what New Year is all about :) |
Re: Dakar 2012
Hell yeah :D Just looking for it on sky+ HD now :D
|
Re: Dakar 2012
Keeping up on Eurosport.
Team Dakar GB just got robbed though. Their villa has been broken into 24 hours before the start and they've lost all their riding gear, boots, helmets, the lot. |
Re: Dakar 2012
Thats f-ing terrible, hopefully they can get something sorted today.
Oh not long to go now :smt041 |
Re: Dakar 2012
Stage 1 on eurosport tomorrow night at 10pm I think.
|
Re: Dakar 2012
Can you watch eurosport online? Apart from the eurosport website?

Re: Dakar 2012
R.I.P Jorge Andres Martinez Boero
He fell only a few miles from the end of the stage and suffered massive trauma to the chest, resulting in a cardiac arrest. |

Re: Dakar 2012
http://www.onlinesat-tv.com/online4eurosport.php but it's a bit of a rubbish picture
I've subscribed to Eurosport player. £3.99 is a third of what I paid to watch a 2 hour film at the cinema yesterday |
Re: Dakar 2012
Couple of meaty crashes today!!
One managed to spin his bike 360 in the air before hitting the ground. Another managed to go over the handle bars. |

Re: Dakar 2012
The 'Copters have caught some horrible crashes so far, more last night, guy straight over the bars and another collarbone and his race down the pan.
Glad "The Voice Of Dakar" is still apologising for saying Nani Roma was deid! What a fanny.:) How good do the petrol cars sound? Too many dullard diesels over the last few years, nice to hear sommething rip again. |
Re: Dakar 2012
Quin Cody's crash was nasty he looked in a bad state when the cameras got to him at least its just his colarbone.
Its the distances they do each day that blow me away. Day two they did just over 300 miles just to get to the stage then had 185 miles of off road fun at high speed... Todays a short one though its only about 300 miles all in... I think I could manage that on the street ;) |

Re: Dakar 2012
Just been catching up using the old Sky+
What a complete c*** Despres is !! To accept help from Goncalves to get out of the mud & then just ride off without reciprocating must be one of the sh*t*est moves I've ever seen a 'sportsman' make. Followed closely by that of Dakar legend - Stephane Peterhansel driving into a biker & knocking him out of the way at a river crossing. Q : How the hell can he NOT get a penalty for that? A : Frenchman in a competition organised, run & adjudicated by a French organisation ! I guess that would also explain why Despres (and others) were given their time back following the mud debacle. I can almost guarantee that if it had been Coma who'd got stuck whilst Despres avoided it the decision would have been very different. So, a massive BOO to Cyril Despres, an equally massive BOO to Stephane Peterhansel & one almighty BOO to the Dakar Organisation. And finally I'll take a long, deep breath & count to 100 :) |

To be fair to Peterhansel, it came as a surprise to him when saw the footage (don't know if he's apologised to the rider though) so wherever he was looking it wasn't over that front wing and he didn't realise he'd done it. Just he should have waited, but it was an accident. Should have had a penalty for it though. Despres was just being a cnut! If a rider stops to help another rider, he just needs to report it to race organisation, they will verify it against the riders irritrack GPS, and credit the time back, so he could have helped Goncalves and it wouldn't have affected his time at all. Also it's not like Congalves is anywhere near Despres overall time, so it wasn't an issue of if helped he could become a threat. |
