Freaky food?

You got any unusual food or food combo's you like?

Me? Cold baked beans! I love em, straight out of the fridge, into white bread sandwiches or served with hot pies or cottage pie or chilli, anything really. The mix of hot meat and cold beans is food orgasmic;)

I'm not alone with an odd food combo or wierd taste fetish am I?

Not peculiar to me, but one you might not think of. Nice juicy ripe strawberry, cut in half, just a touch of freshly ground black pepper on the juicy side. Try it.

Oh thank god for that, I thought I was the only one.
I'm a funny eater anyway so I don't like many foods but that has always baffled people that I like cold beans with my hot meal. The hot/cold contrast is what can make meals interesting.

Can't think of any other oddities though with me at the moment, just the restricted list of foods I will actually eat.

Pickled onion sandwiches. Seriously.

But the anti social effect means I'm not allowed to eat them any more unless my wife is away for a few days...

Crisp and tangerine sandwiches

Sweet chilli dip and mayonnaise!! Gods condiment!!

I had some really bad habits when I was poor.

Cheese on toast: put some bread in the toaster and then cut cold cheese onto the buttered toast. (couldn't be arsed to melt the cheese)

Pasta and mayonnaise.

A southern friend once gave me a hard time about having a few slices of cheese with my poached egg on toast, she thought it was utter madness...I thought she needed help for thinking it was mad!

Tin of beans, heated, whack in some eggs and scramble and cook on high heat. The eggs and bean juice goes like a mousse. On toast with pepper and tabasco

Brother from another mother! That's nectar right there.

I also like cheese on toast with strawberry jam smothered on top.

Cheddar cheese to munch on the side of sweet n' sour chicken and rice.

I also enjoy a variant on Lister from Red Dwarf's fried egg sandwich with chili sauce and chutney... uses Patak's pickled chili.

Peanut butter on pancakes isn't too weird, is it?

The Idle Biker 19-04-12 07:46 PM

Re: Freaky food?

Yes it is wierd. In Wales they used to burn people for abusing peanut butter. A blind eye was, and still is, turned toward abuses of lifestock.

Bibios freaky food is not at all freaky. Must try harder not to be sooo conventional Bib. Bad Bibio.

I used to go to a pub for Saturday lunch and have scampi or chicken nuggets. With rice. I will also take a perfectly good paella and add some tinned pineapple pieces while I'm cooking it.

So, no, I've no weird food likes at all

I love licking marmite off a spoon, just dip the back of the spoon into the marmite and lick it off, no big chunks, just a smooth thin coating, dip and repeat as necessary. I also love egg mayo sandwiches, but DJ hates the smell of them, so I never eat them when he is around, which is very rare because I have to plan ahead and buy it, I don't know how long you boil the eggs for to make them. DJ cooks not me!

Bacon Butties with a thin smear of Seville Orange Marmalade . Cheese on Toast , thin veneer of Mayo on top of the Cheese then slap another slice of Toast on top that has been treated to some Marmite . And my all time fave but it isn`t weird , Slice a Malt Loaf lengthways and hammer some butter on it and get yer chew on .
