Camshafts - where from?
After stripping my engine to find what was making the rattling/knocking sound i found no problem bare the camshafts, which i thought was lucky, but now i cant find any replacement ones online. Any idea where to get them from new or used?

Re: Camshaft
Post a request here
http://www.bike-breakers.info/Forms/Suzuki.htm But I'm sure someone on here must have a dead engine with cams going spare |
Re: Camshaft

Could try Robinson's foundry?

Suzuki dealers sell Suzuki parts.

Re: Camshafts - where from?
Knackered camshafts, that's rare.
|
Re: Camshafts - where from?
And I can't imagine how the cams would go before the big ends.
I'd be looking a lot closer. |
Re: Camshafts - where from?
Were they starved of oil ?
|
Re: Camshafts - where from?
Yeah starved of oil, and everything fine except cam caps not the actual cams, the camps have gone slightly oval
|
Re: Camshafts - where from?
They are part of the head AFAIK
|
Re: Camshafts - where from?
So u can buy the removable cam caps seperate?
|
Re: Camshafts - where from?
I think the caps are part of the head. As in the head is made and then the camshaft journal is line bored as one piece. So the caps are not replaceable on their own.
If it's egg shaped the journal both halves of it will be stuffed anyway. I am really surprised it hasn't knackered the big ends too. |

No... see. Caps are not listed as discrete part. They are part of head. |
Re: Camshafts - where from?
Cam caps are line bored with the head and aren't replaceable.
Agree about big ends, if the oil pressure dropped low enough for the cams to be starved the crank definitely will have too. |
