staying cool
so obviously this heat is so nice but just too much when riding, especially in full gear, so my question is what is everyone doing to keep cool while riding? the normal open your visor just doesn't cut it anymore so im trying to get other ideas apart from riding round naked!!

staying cool
Base layers that wick sweat away from the body help a little. You're still hot but not so uncomfortable compared to without. Very thin compression fit stuff like under armour heat gear or similar.

Re: staying cool
Visor 2 clicks open, jacket half undone, kevlar jeans, cuffs wide open on my jacket, prison haircut, plenty of fluids and still boiling! Also if you're a lard ****, that won't help! :p

Re: staying cool
yeah that pretty much what im doing fallout but still roasting, poor bike is so hot aswell
|
Re: staying cool
That can only be remedied by going as fast as humanly possible in 6th gear. :D

Re: staying cool
the little douchebag at work just got his rs125 and turned up in shorts, tshirt and vans, no gloves either tut tut but yes i think i'll go 130mph or whatever the bike does :D
|
Re: staying cool
Everytime i see somebody in shorts or flip flops, it hurts me just thinking how much it would hurt if they fall at 10 mph...

Re: staying cool
Full black 2 peice leathers, visor down because I can't afford any sunglasses and stuck in traffic. Lost 10lbs in the past fortnight and feel much better for it, well apart from trying to get the leathers off each evening :smt092

Re: staying cool
i know what you mean pete, went for a jolly last night in full leathers, came home after an hour in a puddle of sweat, not cool
|
Re: staying cool
Normally I just unzip the top of my jacket for a bit to get some air to circulate around.
That said, on a short (and low speed) journey I have been known to wear shorts with leg/knee armour over it - giving the cooling + protection. Would never do it during a commute / hoon around / long ride though. |
Re: staying cool
Smoking is usually associated with looking cool
|
Re: staying cool
steve i was debating doing that as i rarely ride too fast, risky nowadays becuase of mobile police cameras, and yes wideboy smoking is what the cool kids do but nasty habit so i'll give it a miss :)

I was riding across the Brecon beacons on the same day in the same heat that sadly saw two army reservists lose their lives. T'was effin' hot. |

Re: staying cool
I've just posted my findings on how to keep your head cool in the Bike Chat forum. Call me Ice Man McMaverick.

Re: staying cool
Man up.
Having said that, I haven't been out in the midday heat. |
Re: staying cool
Full leathers with Under Armour compression suit (helps get leathers off) if going for a long fast. Short/medium journies, Dainese summer jacket zipped to RST kevlar keans. Vented gloves and boots and wick away top and bottoms
