Wings over waves - Felixstowe

Posted in the EAR thread, but also for your info

If the weather is as nice as the last few days, pop down to Felixstowe to see the Catalina flying boat and a couple of others.

http://www.visitfelixstowe.co.uk/lat...-waves/#Flying Schedule

Main seafront & town will be quite busy, so I'll be watching them from the cliff tops near my gaff.

If you fancy a brew before trotting off to the cliffs then PM me and I'll let you know my address. Plenty of parking for bikes

Otherwise the Cliff top cafe sells the best coffee I've ever had and great ice creams. There's parking for bikes there, although it'll be very busy if the weathers good and I need to check if they charge for bikes too.

cheers mav for the headsup, we`ll be in Felixstowe sunday anyway so this will be cool to see :p

I was mesmerised watching a Canadair seaplane in Mallorca a couple of months ago, so will be superb to see a Catalina.

Forecast is looking good for Sunday

We're going to be watching from the cliff top around here, plenty of parking nearby, which is free

Re: Wings over waves - Felixstowe

Yes, just the one on he cliff top, there's another one in the Dip as we know it

If you're coming into Felixstowe, then take the first exit on the first roundabout on the A14, its got traffic lights now, so effectively you're going straight on and NOT heading to the docks.

At the next small roundabout take the 2nd exit.

Go left at the traffic lights, and straight on at the next set of lights past the fire station and petrol station on your right

A the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit again.

Follow the road, you'll pass a big Spar shop and a row of small shops on your left, then a little bit further on the green & cliff tops are on your right & you're there.

Parking in the car park by the cafe will have gone by then, so park in Western Ave IP11 9SL, as this is where most people park when its busy. The turning is just before you get to the cliff top on the left.

If not there's another car park in Golf Road & on road free parking in Golf Road, but spaces are limited.

Golf Road car park is on the opposite side of the green & cliff top to the cafe.

Ignore the above if you're coming by bike, as there's enough space in the cafe car park for bikes, or on the verge.

Maybe as a point to meet up is on the cliff top by the concrete steps down to the beach, which are just to the right of the last beach huts on the cliff top by the cafe.

If you want my mob number send me a PM

Re: Wings over waves - Felixstowe

change of plans, only just finished an unexpected bike wiring job, doubt I'd get going until 1, making 96.8 miles is probably pushing it.

Cheers Mark.
