Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
As per the title really. My wife is off to a festival in the Summer and I was going to try out camping with the SV. Need some bike friendly sites.

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Find a site that suited to your needs.
Ring them to check out the access. Bob's your uncle. Never had any problems as long as you are not an rse |
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Pretty sure Kelling Heath is bike friendly, great spot, on site shop, swimming pool.
Plus you can catch a steam train into Sheringham from the bottom of the field. http://www.kellingheath.co.uk/ |

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
don't overcomplicate things, one of my fav things is to load the bike with camping stuff and just set off, no fixed plan, just petrol and time to use, ride until hungry or tired, you can find a camp site just about anywhere......

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Don't forget that your gear takes up half the size of a person.
|
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
I've found it's useful to work on the presumption all your kit is wet, so you want room to stow it inside without having it against your sleeping space.

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Got the tent. Just ordered a blow up roll mat and have bought some luggage for the bike. I have one of those compact Trangia stoves.
Bought this luggage set: http://www.renntec.co.uk/iqs/cpti.11...l_luggage.html Didn't want anything overkill. The tent fits in the tailpack when its expanded. Just got to book a pitch for the night. Will set off Saturday lunch, ride up the coast to the site then home Sunday. |
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Not going easter then ;)
|
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
I've not found a bike unfriendly one. The problem being on a bike is you take up 5% of the area a standard pitch provides. Campsites are used to an SUV, trailer and enough canvass to house an entire Syrian refugee camp. So you may end up paying way over the top.
I'm a fan of Youth Hostels with camping areas - you get to camp but use the facilities. They're a nice 'break in' for those who haven't done bike camping before. |
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
If you mean Easter as in the meat run, then I may be attending if you lot would sort out a date!

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
What's the thoughts on keeping the bike safe next to the tent overnight? The other obvious thing to do would be not to park the bike right next to the tent.

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
I just stick a disc lock with an alarm on the bike.
If you are on a electric hook up, use the post with a chain. But as most bike theft is usually scoped out your be unlucky to get it touched. |

Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Any other suggestions apart from Kelling heath?
|
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
There's a few others dotted around the coast up there, but Kelling is the only one ive stayed at. If you stay there, you could take a ride round and check them out.
or ask the Tourist board. As a lone biker i doubt you'd be turned away from many, unless they are Caravan Club run, and only allow caravans. |
Re: Bike friendly campsites in Norfolk?
Booked to stay the night at Overstrand. Cliff top pitch with an awesome view of the sunset if the skies are clear.
