Bad Off - you couldnt make this one up either
Ok... Im still gobsmacked at what happened this morning....
riding into work, get to Commercial Street. Across a set of lights, following behind a goldwing. Approaching a pedestrian crossing, green lights so carry on.... however, Ive spotted a van trying to turn right ie into my lane.... so slow down as hes edging out... he stops... the goldwings carried on and hes definitely stopped and can see me so I carry on then he goes right in front of me... I had no chance... Ok... bike slides under van a bit... I got catapaulted off the bike over the handlebars... landed on my face to the right (judging by the scrapes on the helmet and the impact on my right side) slide a bit... when I stop and sit up the guys got out the van and asking if Im alright. Im looking at the bike gushing petrol and oil over the road... then guy gets back in van and goes to start it and seems to want to drive off... by this point the goldwing rider is over, sees whats happening and goes to get the keys off him... manages to do so, then the van driver goes nuts... he then punches the goldwing rider causing him to fall in the road into the path of an oncoming lorry which fortunately could see the accident and was stopping anyway   van driver is still going for the keys and going ballistic so the goldwing rider throws them across the road towards me... I pick them up. Because the drivers going nuts I call 999 to make sure theyre on their way. At this point the driver comes after me and starts pushing me... he goes to hit me and Im screaming (with the phone connected to the police - nice evidence methinks) because he goes to hit me to get the keys back. I get cut off from the police at this point because hes grabbing me to get the keys... Im practically hysterical at this point, Im injured and the guys damn well assaulting me... fortunately this is where 4 cso's arrived - and damn glad to see them I was too... they seperated us, I gave them the keys and they moved the vehicle. But at least they saw the scene as it was and he was kept there. The driver behind me, the goldwing rider, the car on the other side which the lorry had blocked have all told the police the same thing - I had no chance. He said I was doing 60... I like this... I was speeding he says so infer he saw me... saw I was speeding and still went... mmmm think that wont cary any weight given I was doing 20... the car behind and goldwing gave statements to that effect to the police at the scene. The guy was arrested and taken into custody. So will find out what happens soon... the goldwing riders certainly pressing charges with so many witnesses (me, car behind me, the lorry he fell in front of with 3 people in the cab). The officer speaking to me in the ambulance said theyd all confirmed my story and that they would be considering reckless/dangerous driving. As for me, battered & bruised... but no breaks fortunately. Im alive which is the important thing. The bike I dont know about... kept asking but they told me it had been recovered and I could sort it out later when Id been checked over. Why is it, no matter what, you always worry about your bike? I was in a neck brace being tied down to ensure if I had neck injuries I wouldnt aggravate them and all I wanted to know was what was happening to my bike? Massive thanks to Ian (Sid Squid) for talking to me when I needed someone to keep me on track and for helping me out this afternoon. Thanks Mr Toad too. Just needed to talk to someone cos Im still a bit shaken. JBs theory of the God of Off is scary. I nearly had a similar accident wednesday when someone did almost similar thing.. had a feeling one was coming.... Still this is my first major off in 4 years of riding... learnt a few lessons today which will add to my experience and hopefully keep me on a bike for a lot longer yet..... See the rest of you guys tonight... bikeless but I'll be in soho... Lyn |
:(
Don't know what to say, hope things work out ok and you're not too brused. |
Bloody hell... Nothing's a worse trigger than someone knowing they've f***ed up I think, I see that all the time in my work... The people who don't have a leg to stand on are always the most aggressive, since they seem to think that'll convince people they're in the right. Look on the bright side, you have the clearest-cut insurance claim in the history of the world.
The bike'll fix, the main point is that you don't need fixing... |
Jeez! Glad you're OK. That's the main thing. We can only hope that they put that cretin away.
|
 Jesus lyn... I hope you're ok, relatively speaking :(
I'd like to get my hands on a git like him...attacking anyone he's just knocked off their bike its inexcusable...attacking a female just adds to my anger! lets hope they give him real justice.... Stand him on a high bridge... attach shorter ropes to his jacobs with bricks on the other end... and give you the pleasuer of dropping them off the bridge while watching him cack himself. Its almost too good for him :( |
OMG
I'm glad to hear you're ok, thats the main thing. |
bloody hell!!
lyn that sounds positively terrifying. so pleased to hear you are just shaken, no breaks. hope the ****er get whats coming to him. sorry to swear, but words fail me hope your up and riding again soon take care keith |
F*uck. That was nasty. Glad that you're OK and the b@st@rd got nicked. Hope that they do him for assault and dangerous driving. Let us know how you get on. I expect that the guys will look after you in Soho tonight and buy you drinks.
|
Re: Bad Off - you couldnt make this one up either
Lyn that must have been somewhat terrifying and you have my utmost respect for how you handled it. This is the sort of person that I'd like to see tied to a pole and whipped, what a total b*stard. If you need anything just let me know - and a big thumbs up to Squid and Toad for assisting you.
Once you get his vehicle reg let's name and shame him so that others can stay out of his way - or maybe invite him down to Soho for a little "chat". Quote:

F*CK.. thats nasty, I hope they throw the book at the Van driver, what TW*T
Glad you're OK though |
sorry to hear that lyn you should have head butted the git while wearing your helmet
|

Glad you are in one piece lyn. Chat to you tonight. |

I am glad you are ok, bike wise, don't worry too much, insurance will sort it all out in no time. that dude will deserve anything that will be throw to him after this incident... me think people like that should be locked up on an offshore island for a long time and or endure similar experience for someselves... |
Jesus, Lyn!
Am very glad you are alright - what a f*cking irresponsible maniac - also glad that he was arrested, and the incident had loads of witnesses. Will see you this evening. |
What a cnut
Two charges of assault to add to dangerous driving............. Just hope he's insured, and glad you're OK. You'll be stiff in the morning, though. Oh, and your poor CB Arrgh  |
Oh ****
Glad to hear that you are reasonably ok and no breaks. I really hope they throw the book at him. Un Bl**dy believable, what a w4nker. Hope your bike is repairable. Take care out there Dawn |

thanks everyone...
still a bit shaken up... believe it or not the most terrifying part of it all was him going for me... not the summersault over the bars, landing on my face and sliding... I accept things like that could happen riding a bike but the guy going nuts was just unbelievable... theres issues with the bike - dvla have screwed up the ownership docs so theyre now looking at it to make sure its not a ringer before I can get it back  just very glad it was the cbr and not the SV :D |

I've got no words really... properly shocked... Glad you're relatively ok. Amazed at how you handled it considering you'd just been knocked off... U're tough as old boots. :D And a HUGE thumbs up to the Goldwing rider... Above and beyond. :) I hope the van driver REALLY gets what he deserves. B*stard. |
|
Whaaa!
glad you're in one piece, and a big hand to the Goldwing rider, I think =D> . |
At least he'll be getting properly done for it, crashing into people, assaulting people, trying to do a runner etc. etc. Surely he'll get hammered for all that in court. Hopefully he's off the road & we're all a bit safer as a result. Glad you're OK. Glad it's just the Honda too. |
|
 glad that you are o.k.
|
thank you Mr Toad... thank you thank you thank you... Just spotted the addition to the avatar and laughing so so much... made my day

that really is a sh*t thing to happen. id pay to see him sentaced for a very long time. just hope that he is insured. |
Eeek! :(
Bad luck girl, very scary! People like that should be shot. If you need anything, give us a shout. You might even be able to clame for the fairing on the cbargh now ;) Have a hot choccy on me tonight, and relax. (see you next week at soho, cant make it tonight :() Dan |
That's terrible, what a low life!
You say the police say they're considering reckless/dangerous driving, but don't let them drop the assault case. Anyone who attacks someone they've just run over deserves to be locked up. |
the goldwing guy isnt going to drop it... hes really going to pursue it so they wont really have an option.. :D

Lyn, it's all been said already.
I'm just glad you're ok. On the plus side, you now don't have to worry about sanding the tank back  |
You have balls of steel my dear... figuratively speaking of course!
Thinking about your bike in the ambulance... that's your body's way of letting you know its going to be OK, so you go ahead and worry about other stuff, eg; your bike. |
What they all said! What a complete ****! Glad you are OK.
|
Glad your ok .
no doubt the goldwing rider will want the assaut charge to go forward also. see...us pcso's do come in usefull now and again. lol |
Feck!!!
Glad you're ok and you have witnesses. Hang him high dude  |
I was so glad the pcso's were there... they got there pdq actually... which is really fortunate because they stopped a bad situation getting worse....
I know you guys do a good job, its just the rest of the world seems to see you as motorised traffic wardens... but hope this points out that youre not... they took control, ordered the ambulance and chased up the police officers getting there... and yes the goldwing rider will pursue this, now I remember, he was injured in the fall and bleeding so there are notes from the ambulance crew and cso's that he was also injured.. cant remember much else because they packed me away in the ambulance after that  they were trying to get me to calm down - my pulse hit 145 at one point and wasnt dropping... funny cos they tested me and it read 100 and then started going up... well what do they expect if they send hunky paramedics??!!     I seem to remember laughing a lot with the ambulance crew  and talking about sv's - the driver had had one once... funny how shock affects people isnt it? |
OMG Lyn - what a nightmare senario
what an animal (no - thats an insult to animals!! )- going for you like that when you could have been badly injured (thank God you weren't) Biggup the Goldwing rider - sounds like a hero 8) |
To be honest though, really, lets face it... a Goldwing rider.
What else should you have expected than controlled, practical and sensible behaviour, and ideally suited to pushing on and on and on with the assault charge! |
Battalion of Stormtroopers standing by.............. just tell us where he lives and they'll go round to discuss it with him, al friendly like, mano-á-mano.
|
Glad to hear you are OK. Hope theres not too much damage to your bike.
Hope that tin top driving git gets what he deserves. |
