14 stone how should I set the suspension?
As it says I'm 6'2" and 14 stone 9 pounds. I know nothing about setting suspension up so any help greatly received. Its a 2004 K4.

Hey are you me?
I'm 6'2" nearly 14 stone 9 pounds (nearer 15  ) and ride a k4 svs in blue and am from Newcastle (but live in dundee :( ). From reading the countless posts on here about suspension i decided that no matter how much preload you apply to either end i am just to heavy for the stock suspension to cope. I have swapped my springs for some stiffer k tech linear ones and swapped the oil to 15w on the front which transformed the bike enormously. I also swapped my rear shock for a nearly new gsxr item which also had similar benifits and i can now adjust my damping on the rear. Have a search for some other posts then you can read up on what people have done, there are loads related to suspension as its so rubbish as standard. |
Is the GSXR item a direct swap?

Don't listern to PoRk ChOp He eats pies and tells lies.
Speaking of Pies I have a French lad working in my department for 5 months and he had never had a pie as they don't have them in France (WTF!). So I brought him one in from my local butchers. He loved it. Next day he brought me a fecking Quiche in nasty fecking things they are I mean its a ruddy tart init  Anyway I digress. I think I'm going to fit a GSXR shock which model shock fits a K4? |

Was wondering what this notion of to heavy for stock suspension is. Im 13 stone and gf 9 stone, we ride round everywhere on the K1 and i dont even realise shes on the bike. The only problem is when we go shopping wiith a 90l rucksack full of shopping and a 50 l, with shopping on the handlebars and some on the tank. No joke, live round the corner from supermarket!
Seriously ive never had any problems really except for huge potholes in the road creating the forks to bottom out. must have super good springs, |
