Moto GP champ predictions and why?

Come on then time for a heated debate!

Maybe one of the nice Moddy peeps might consider making this a sticky?

Each will have their own reasons and thinking,(not necesarily sensible in the eyes of others but valuable all the same.)

So what is your forecast for the 1,2,3 finish come Valencia and who will be the first 800cc MOto GP champ?

Will be interesting perhaps to reflect back on this thread when the end of season discussions are taking place!

andyaikido 04-02-07 01:08 PM

I'm gonna go with:

1) Rossi - still the best out there, just had an off season with a few freaky retirements
2) Pedrosa - 800's will suit him down to the ground
3) Capirossi - the Ducati's did well last year

Capirossi and Pedrosa might end up the other way round but deffo Rossi for the championship.

lukemillar 04-02-07 01:08 PM

1-Vale

2-Pedrosa

3-Capirossi

Can't be arsed to type reasons, but that's my 07 1,2,3.

lukemillar 04-02-07 01:09 PM

snap!

andyaikido 04-02-07 01:51 PM

08!?

Rossi could be racing powerboats or something by then.

fizzwheel 04-02-07 02:34 PM

1. Rossi
2. Melandri
3. Capirossi

Rossi is going to be hungry after defeat this year. Melandri and Capirossi at full fitness will be forces to reckoned with especially as Melandri is already having good results with the new Bridgestone tyres.

Pedrosa I think will win races, but I dont think yet hes hard enough to battle with the big boys.

Biker Biggles 04-02-07 04:37 PM

Who dares to bet against Rossi? Not me either.

1.Rossi.The best ever, and true class will shine.
2.Haydon.He is good and consistent.
3.Pedrosa.As he gains experience he will turn talent into more consistent results.

I see Pedro as a dark horse though. Most champions over the years have also had a bit of personality, and I just wonder if Pedro lacks that spark of life that moves things on to greatness.

trickywoos 04-02-07 05:44 PM

LOL, I'm gonna be different then!!

1. Rossi
2. Capirossi
3. Hopkins

Alpinestarhero 04-02-07 05:54 PM

No! I'm going to be differant!

1) Melandri. As long as he stays injury free, he'll win.

2) Capirossi. Too good. Might even win.

3) Valentino. The best. Obviously might win, but definatly for top three.

Who's already whinging that, his bike doesnt have enough power ( as are the other Honda riders ), complaining that he hasnt got No 1 status in the team and that hes only getting equal hardware with Pedrosa. Who in my opinion needs to stop bleating on about all of this and start concentrating on his title defence.

I think if Melandri and Capirossi had been injury free in 2006 I dont think the title would have gone where it did...

Hayden is good but I don't think the 800 will suit his style and if Rossi didn't have the engine and tyre failures last season his mistake at Valencia wouldn't have cost him the title.

Alpinestarhero 04-02-07 09:27 PM

Hayden is like edwards; consistent, reliable but not really a winner...i beleive that had rossi had a slightly more reliable bike last season, hayden wouldnt have won. Or capirossi, if he didnt get injured at catalunya...

Luck plays a huge part in this sort of thing.

Rossi had none last season. I think

1, Pedrosa
2, Rossi
3, Melandri

Luke,

I will wait for you chaps to make all of the sense before posting my own meandering nonsense! :D

1 - Pedrosa
2 - Rossi
3 - Hayden, or C.Rossi

Dan

It is hard to tell, I think it will be a very close year but :

1-Rossi, losing will have just made him try harder
2-Caparossi, was having a great season last time till the accident
3-Melandri or Pedrossa, Melandri for the same reason as Caparossi, Pedrossa as there is no denying he is fast and the smaller bikes will benefit him.

I don't think Hayden will be able to retain the title unless those above have major problems.

Thats a bold prediction

However, I sense that it may be more accurate than rossi beating pedrosa...

Lets not forget that Dani nearly won his first MotoGP race. If he had any tyre grip left in the last 5 laps, jerez would have been historic....

How about

1 - vermeulen
2 - RDP
3 - KRJR

well - youd win enoughon eurobet if that one came in 8) :?

more probably

1- Colin
2 - Nicky
3 - Valentino

why not ? Colin has been quick in testing - if he can get out in fron in the points chase, dont think Yamaha would stop him 8)

Alpinestarhero 09-02-07 11:28 AM

Colin's always quick in testing...
