Aggression - WTF?

I get up this morning have my cup of coffee and get my kit on get in the garage and start her up. Pull off the drive and bang! I felt like John Bladdy McGuiness, absolutely battering it out of corners, overtakings cars in between moving traffic. Throwing it round the roundabouts, all in a quicker motion and more aggresively than normal :( I had a race with a focus Sport (Not ST, Sport ;))last night and left him for dust after a few turns. But I'm worried about the aggression, where has it come from. One thing I am sure it has damn sure cured my leaning round corners problem.

I feel a bit weird now lol.

Maybe its my new helmet

Yeah, just know that you now *could* ride hard if you wanted, but keep yourself in control! Save the racing for the track or you will be very sorry at some point.

Sometimes you just need to do it, afterwards you feel calmer.
Just don't try riding over the cars that are in your way, not good!

I know I can get like this from time to time. You feel invincible at the time, but then look back and realise you're not, and it may not have been such a good idea!

The bike is a good outlet. The human mind being what it is, you might not be aware of things lurking at the back of your head, but your inner (bike) demon probably is.

I have days like that too. Usually if I know I'm pretty worked up I'll ask someone to look after my keys for a while. If it was just me, and I didn't have kids, things might be different, but there's no way I want to be on the bike when I'm not in the right frame of mind.

Chalk it down as another of those "They all do that sir" moments.

The fact that you didn't bin the bike counts for a lot.

Instead of looking back thinking what could of happened, look at it as a confidence builder. You've pushed the bike harder than you normally do, and survived. So now riding normally should be more comfortable (less nerve wrecking).

Maybe it's because I'm getting older. I don't find this sort of behaviour acceptable on public roads. Spirited riding - fine. But aggressive riding is self-serving and dangerous. I don't think that the fact that you didn't bin the bike counts for a lot, it counts for nothing.

Surely it counts as a confidence builder.

Eg, wobbling around corners because of a fear of falling off, compared to now known that the bike has been leant over further than previously, and nothing bad happened. Positive re-enforcement. Now back to the speed at which wobbles previously occured, more comfortable riding.

I'm not saying every corner should be taken at light speed, more that when you've pushed the boundaries, so long as the boundaries don't move, you're more comfortable within them.

Theres confidence and over confidence, continued riding in an agressive manner IMHO is gonig to at some point bite you in the butt and you'll be tasting tarmac. ( probably )

I suspect though being honest everybody has the odd day like that. I know I do sometimes.

I agree completely, and it happens to me too.

Try riding in the nod... that will slow you down, and it has the advantage of slowing everyone around you down to.

some mornings i just pin, it, loud fast and nasty..............

not very sociable i know, then other mornings i just tootle in.

and its not down to my particular mood that morning, sometimes just the feel of the bike, or the sound of the engine makes you want to do bad things.

my particualr thing at the moment is doing low floaty wheelies on the power from standstill, that scares the sh*t out of most drivers, but feels sooo sooo good !!!!!!

im a bad bad man

Looks like you fell for the same trap as I did Baph.

I have been holding my inner "Spelling Nazi" in check recently, but heres an example of miscommunication due to bad spelling.

The word "bin" was used in the original posting.

What was meant was "been", what was communicated was "bin" as in to drop the bike.

Oh stuff it - time for another grammar/spelling thread HERE

Actually big guy, I didn't mis-read. I understood that "been" was intended.

My point still stands, the fact he didn't throw it on the floor (:p) counts for a lot in terms of confidence building.

It's not a good idea to go out on the bike when your minds not 100% on riding. I binned my last SV that way and was lucky not to have injured myself badly. Good job the leathers did the trick that day really.
