Pyramid Hugger fitting on a K6

Ive just tried fitting a pyramid rear hugger to my K6 pointy, but just cant get it to sit central.

The chain side is fine, lots of clearance etc, but the other side is a nightmare. it sits almost slightly lopsided and no matter how many adjustments i make to the bracket, or the tightness of the bolts, its defo not right.

Ive tried ringing Pyramid but no answer, so was wondering has anyone got any pics of a pyramid hugger fitted, showing the rear view(so i can see how far off the tyre it should be) and also the right hand side on view showing exactly where the bracket is fitted and if there is any angle on the fitment..

If anyone can help i would SERIOUSLY appreciate it, as its ****ing me off!!!

i find its best to fit the hugger then twist it straight then do up the bolts.

yours looks spot on, yet this just doesnt seem to want to fit like that, i dont get it at all!!

Have you got a pic from the right hand side on, looking behind the exhaust where the bracket is?

What a coincidence!

I've just come in from fitting a pyramid hugger to my K6.

I found I had to bend the Rear LHS mounting point to get mine to sit central.

And I also straightened out the bracket that they supply. I'll go take some pics.

Back in a min!:D

I had similar problems fitting the genuine Suzuki one. What I did in the end was use some washers on various holes to centralise the hugger. Looks spot on now.

KwakZZR, where did you get that double bubble from, if you don't mind me asking? Looks a better shape than mine.

Thanks.

Lawson, thats great, have you got any from the other side where the bracket is?

Or just showing where you bent the bracket?

I always thought Pyramid were meant to be spot on for fitment, but it seems a few of us are having probs....

Are these any better Ollie:

The first picture shows the bracket I bent, so it is almost straight, that helped to make it sit central over my wheel.

Re: Pyramid Hugger fitting on a K6

Ha Ha! No worries.

Erm? It did it ages ago, I think I took it off with the OE hoses. Its probably still attached to them in the garage somewhere.

Does it fit yet?:D

Re: Pyramid Hugger fitting on a K6

Well, i bent the bracket and it seems ok now, went for a quick ride , getting off to check it wasnt rubbing or moving out of position every now and then, and touch wood it seems ok.

Not quite what i was expecting though, i thought it would be fit and forget, but because of the poor fit and having to bend the bracket and angle it it to position, im always going to have to keep checking it as im worried it might move out of position and may rub my tyre...

Will have to see how it goes!

Thanks for the pics though, top man! :)

Now then ollie, is yours in black? I've got a black hugger coming. Is there any chance of a pic of the bike from each side so I can see what it looks like overall? Cheers.

Agreed! Thanks for the pics, I've fitted mine now and I think I'm gonna stick with black as it seems to blend in with all the other black bits around it.

Re: Pyramid Hugger fitting on a K6

I fitted a Pyramid hugger to my K6 about 12 months ago.

It took an age to get sitting straight, but all I did was man-handle it into position - not very helpful I know!

The problem is with the metal bracket on the caliper side. Its a terrible design. The have easy access to a tapped hole on the top surface of the swing arm (where the rear brake hose was secured) and they chose to use a clamp type bracket that relies on pressure to keep it located. Crap design...and the rubber pads slide out from underneath the bracket too.

I almost went to a local fabrication company I know to make me a bracket that would locate on the tapped hole.

My thoughts exactly!!:smt021

As you have had your fitted a while, does yours pick up stones and other crap and drag it thru the hugger?

Just worried if it was anything sharp, it could slice the tyre!!:o

I do pick up stones but I havent had any problems with them getting stuck that I am aware of.

Its not just me then!?

When riding slow, like pulling off the driveway, i noticed a few noises. So I stopped to take a look. Sure enough, stones! Theres probably about 3mm gap between the top of the tyre and hugger.

I'm sure it won't be a problem once they've squared off! :D:rolleyes:
