Newbie here

Been riding my SV650s for about a year, havent done much to it other than exhaust. Starting to get into modding it more now as I rode the new gixxer600 and loved it but dont wanna leave the vtwin. Lookin to mod so just joined to find more info. Just thought I would drop in and say hello:)
Live in the US in california however go to school and ride in indiana.

'Sup! What sort of modifications are you looking to do? I saw a yamaha R1 on sunday coming out of boxhill (popular biker meet in the south-east of england) with the widest rear wheel I've ever seen fitted to any bike, musta been a 250-section rear tyre!

well so far, i thought if intake filter, velocity stacks, full exhaust system and a custom tune. I know I can change the the tooth ratio on the sprockets and such but id have to look around to see the idea teeth front to rear would be best for me. My friend told me a little about it on his bike bit its a CBR so im sure its completely different. Not really looking to dive into the motor at this point. Ill save that for my car:)

Hey welcome, have you ever rode down the Hightway 101? Thats on my list of things to do, on spring break a few us drove down there, but I really want to ride a bike through there now!

Welcome! Working out what sprockets you need is easy. To start with just get a front sprocket with 1 less tooth that you currently have. That will lower top end but improve acceleration. If you want to further enhance this effect add 1-2 teeth on the rear sprocket as well.

sweet sounds easy enough. Would I need a new chain for the change in the front? Or just when i change both the front and the rear?

I think you can get away with keeping the same chain when you change the front, but need a new one if its the rear thats changed (i.e. a longer chain)

You might wanna look at fork internals to stiffen up the front suspension, make the bike behave better according to peeps on here
