Woop, woop, I did a jump!

Not intentionally you understand!

Was coming home from Cardiff last night, just after Holden hill by Exeter, travelling at a fair old speed through a downhill twisty bit (racing a BMW) when all of a sudden there was a massive chunk of wood (about a foot long and looked like it was 4" think) just before a bend.

Was absolutely f-all I could do about it so I just hit it and hoped. Bike lifted and landed just in time for me to make the corner.

I absolutely shat myself and had to stop at the bottom of the hill to collect myself and check over the bike.

All appeared well so I carried on with my journey only to find that when I went over 1 10 the front end began to shudder, so now I need to get my front wheel balanced! :-(

Yeah, the one I got that travels alongside the A38/M5, just let Mr BMW driver on there for a play.

Must remember to send my butler up there to clear the debris!!

Why would hitting a plank of wood have to occur on his 'private road', theres nothing you can do about it.

There is a crossroads on my commute that has a weird drop to it, one time when i attempted to get away from the lights quickly i went up the drop and I'm sure the whole bike jumped, i to shat my pants.

there is a hump-backed bridge on the way to Abergavenny with similar butt-loosening tendancies...(and when i say hump-backed think more BMX ramp over small river)

There's a mini roundabout that I get airborne on each day on the way home from work. Tis cool.

Theres a nice hump on the A31. Dumps you into oncoming traffic mind.

Also check your brake pads. They may have slipped or moved due to the impact. I had this happen to me after a big tank slapper so its possible an impact like that could shift them to.

He was doing 110 mph....on a private road, not jumping over sticks.

I was doing between 90 and 100 through some downhill twisties when I hit said lumb of wood, it now judders from the front wheel when I go above 110. (All on my private road you understand!)

Just glad the wood wasn't in the corner else I probably wouldn't be wrirring about it on this forum!

Re: Woop, woop, I did a jump!

Well, I checked the bike and apparently, 90mph into a chunk of wood DOES bend the rim. :-(

Only bent on one side which means I was leant over a bit so it's even luckier that I escaped without crashing.

The damage doesn't look to bad (2-3" of the rim has been puched in with the worst bit pushed in by about 1-1.5cm) but I still don't wanna be riding on it.

Is is ok to get this bent back into shape or is it not advised?

Anyone know where I should take it to get it done??

Cheers all.
