faulty sprag (starter), clutch.
 
I seem to have a problem with the SPRAG cluch not engaging hence bike wont start.... is there a quick fix cos i donthave a puller for the alternator .... if not a quick fix how much can I expect to pay a man who can????

Rare problem on SV's. Are you 100% sure that it is knacked?

You can change one in 2 hours or less.

Not sure if its U S but it free wheels in both directions and I dont know what else it could be .... as it just spins the starter motor and not the engine though any sugestions will be gretfuly received

Yeah that sounds knackered. You had sidecase off to try that by hand?

I just had the same thing happen to me two days ago. Bike cut out as it sometimes does when it's not quite up to temperature, went to pull away from the roundabout and it cut out... bump started it, then it cut out again. Try to start it and it just whirrs the starter motor but engine doesn't turn over.

Did you have any luck fixing yours?
