Saturday night food
After the rideout on Saturday night we have decided to have a BBQ.
Soulkiss has knidly stepped up to take up role of chef as in previous years(any other volunteers to help will be appreciated). I'd like an idea of those wishing to be fed. Veggie chilli option available for the non meat eaters amongst us. Please vote what you'd like to be fed with, so I can go foraging accordingly. It will also then in turn give us an idea of cost....and most importantly how much folks will pay. |
Re: Saturday night food
BBQ nom nom
Although the curry delivery at ARTNW was pure genius  |
Re: Saturday night food
That's two meat eaters from us dizz :D
|
Mmmmmmmm.
I'll eat practically any BBQ food but i'd prefer the basics rather than steak, lobster or a side of goat because of the cost, although if you can do it cheap I'll do damnedest to make sure there are no leftovers. Guessing the food I buy during the rest of the AR will not be the healthiest, I'd like to think we could stretch to some salad, pasta and bread to go with the protein. I'll gladly help prep, cook, serve, eat and clean. Just let know the rough cost so I can budget for it;) |
Re: Saturday night food
Carnivore heaven please :-)
|
Re: Saturday night food
meat, with some meat and a side order of meat, please don't clutter my plate with green stuff*, at a push I'll go for some bread of some kind, but mainly meat.
I feel I may have been less than clear in the above, so to clarify meat *If I want colour I'll bring a drawing from one of my young nieces Cheers Mark. |
Re: Saturday night food
BBQ...yum!

The plan is for me to go shopping on Thursday(50 miles away, Poofwaggon Delivery service), as the site have given permission for storage in their catering fridges until Saturday night. This is why I've put up the poll, as I'll be covering initial cost in advance, then recouping it on arrival. The poll won't be closing, then I can work out cost nearer the time, but with enough notice for folks. I'll see what I can do as far as salad stuff is concerned, I don't fancy wasting it though if only one or two want to eat it. Anyone wants salad, please tell me. I've already stolen the fellas cooker in the bunkhouse, as I'll be cooking chilli, whilst SK is prepping the BBQ. Quote:

Re: Saturday night food
At this rate I'll need to get some catering qualifications - lol
Yep, found that I have enjoyed feeding you lot and actually missed it last year - its one way of making sure you get to say hello to almost everyone, so I put my hand up to help :) So any suggestions, let me know, its my thoughts that I should probably be ok on my own, but if people want to volunteer to hang around and go get stuff if needed (and make sure I dont run out of beer) then thats great, tho as the BBQ tends to become a focal point, there is always someone who will cover that as needed. If people want to bring their own stuff and have me cook it, then I am happy to do that, and will do my best to keep it edible :) |

Re: Saturday night food
bloodfest please.
Veggie! are they fit company for man or beast? Can you imagine the scream a carrot makes as it is ripped out of the ground tearing off it roots purely to feed a carnivore in denial. |
Re: Saturday night food
Can the local Indian not deliver? then we can have real food without the risk of contamination

Re: Saturday night food
I laughed my ass off at rictus :D
YC i think theres laws or something that you have to cater for disabled people these days so maybe we have to have a bowl of salad? not sure on the legalities of it all ;) |

Re: Saturday night food
Bring on the MEAT!
Although I may stretch to a barm, does that count as veg or cereal? |
Re: Saturday night food
i'll eat anything apart from the 3 b's (brains, bugs and balzz)
|
Re: Saturday night food
is it time to go yet !
|
Re: Saturday night food
I've voted for meat because I don't like Chilli, but in truth I'd like a nice plate of Tofu, some couscous and a nice crisp salad washed down with some Edlerflower cordial followed by an early night.
|
Re: Saturday night food
Now if you'd have asked for a nice dollop of caviar I'd have almost thought you were serious ;)
Chilli only there as a veggie alternative. I don't want someone starving because we haven't thought about them. Its a tried and tested recipe, and I'll be cooking it. I could even stretch to couscous and salad, having a Greek in the house, we eat mountains of it, buy it in bulk! |
Re: Saturday night food

Re: Saturday night food
Can I put in the suggestion of a disposable veggie BBQ with some cheese and leek sausages and beanburgers?
And some lovely stinky cheese like brie and stilton. I can pack some of that if there is a fridge to put it in. Not that I'm veggie - I just don't like to put a sausage anywhere near my mouth. |

Sounds like you need a decent butcher who puts pig in his bangers. I cannot be doing with those cheapskate so called sausages that contain fat, offal, cerial and the sawdust off the floor. I might take some local cheese up in the cool box and you can have a nibble. Smelly Aypeth made by Sean Wilson (Martin Platt, the male nurse from corrie), and Blacksticks are two of my Lancashire blues of choice. None of that tasteless yorkshire wensleydale. |
Re: Saturday night food
Personally I prefer pig in my banger too Tim. At home I only buy good quality, non of this 'smartprice' in my house! but then I have a picky bugger Greek male to feed.
With a rather large quantity of diners, a limited resource at the site, I will go for the best I can buy with the money we are to be given. I'm more concerned with folks not eating enough, of course i don't want sawdust in my bangers either, but catering for such numbers can't always give you a banger that you know the name of the pig it came from. I'm a yorkshire mum, who puts enough food on the table for the 5000 and then some, so for the AR I won't be changing my spots and skimping on supplies. I want SK to be fed up of the sight of bangers and burgers, cause he'll be cooking all night :) |
Re: Saturday night food
Horns aff, wipe its bum and bang it on the fire! Yum, meaty goodness.
Sign me up for this.\\:D/ |
Re: Saturday night food
Dizzy, surely you only need to dish out a Kebab to keep Peg happy?
So lips, hoofs and arses on a donnar and he will smile contented |
