B&W Bikes Instructed Trackday - August 12th

Right then.... I've decided to try something a little bit different with our next trackday on Wednesday August 12th at Cadwell Park.

So far it's been called a "Novice' trackday and we had a very successful first one back in June. There have been reviews in MCN (last week) and in this months Performance Bikes magazine.

It's actually this latest review in PB that has prompted me to make a small change which I think will interest more people on here. It was suggested in that review that the day would be beneficial to a lot of riders, not just those who are happy to be referred to as a novice.

So what I am planning is to run the day as a 2 group day as normal but we will have a 'Inters' group and a 'Novice' group.

Both groups will get the same benefits from the day, as follows.

All day instruction.
An instructor will be working with you, on and off the track, all day long. You will not be allowed on track without your instructor in fact. You will share you instructor with up to 2 other riders.

7 x 30 minute sessions
That's 3.5 hours on track, 50% more track time than other trackdays that run 7 x 20 minute sessions. The main advantage this brings is actually that your instructor can bring you in during the sessions, give a few quick words of advice and get straight back out again to put it into action.

Suspension advice.
Included in the cost is access to a suspension expert who can help with bike set up.

Bike maintenance / ACU Scrutineering advice
We'll have an ACU scrutineer available if you want advice on prepping a bike for racing or trackdays.

Photography service
We also have a photographer available who will allow you to get digital copies for free.

Plus there is free home made cake too.

The cost is £240 per person as I've said, I'll be quite happy to let riders who feel they are more of an intermediate level take part as well as novice riders.

Instruction on track can be very expensive but is probably the best way to improve your riding. This is just about the cheapest way to get personal instruction for a whole day.

Very tempted by this, just need a working bike, a trailer and a car with a towbar.

Other than that I'm good to go :)

And now, to put icing on the cake, we are not only offering a free photography service but we have now secured the services of the best trackday photographer available.

For the August 12th day, we have Alex James Photography attending and all his hi-res shots will be available completely free of charge from the Black & White Bikes website.

http://www.alexjamesphoto.com/

Normally this would set you back a minimum of £30 but we give it to you for free.

Ask around and I'm sure everyone will agree that Alex is undoubtedly a brilliant photographer and you will have a fantastic record of the day.

Well it was an awesome day to be honest. We had amazing weather which helped a lot and the feedback I received was 100% positive.

I do know that Bunkle (Dave) had a tricky day as he was on an unusual bike that he had borrowed at the last minute and desperately didn't want anything to happen to it but hopefully he will be along at some point to describe the day from his point of view.

For me, organising the day was hard work, actually f**king hard work!! but totally rewarding with the comments and smiling faces that I got in return.

More are planned for next year with more tracks and maybe other formats being introduced too, so watch this space.

We do have our first trackdays coming up later in May at Cadwell Park. We are running a new 2 day format but you can choose to do Day 1 or Day 2 or both.

Both days are based on instruction and learning rather than just cheap track time but we do put a lot off added extras into the package to give value for money.

Free photography by Alex James
Free suspension advice and set up
Free technical and tyre support
Free home made cake

Day 1 is 7x 30 minute sessions with an instructor working with you all day.
Day 2 is 7x 20 minute sessions with instructors allocated to your group only to help you on track and give plenty of feedback in the paddock afterwards.

The 2 groups for Day 1 are called 'Novice' and 'Inters' and we also have a 'Fast' group in Day 2.

Day 1 is £250. Day 2 is £150 and if you book both days then we give you a 10% discount down to £360.

Honda CBR600RR hire bikes are available for £175 per day

The next dates are 18th and 19th May at Cadwell Park and for a bit more info please follow these links

Here's a decent review of last years event that Joanna Benz has written on her blog.

We have changed things a bit since she had her day at Cadwell and can help Novice, Intermediate and even Advanced group riders with 2 different format days. But still an interesting read.

and an email that I received today after the 2 day event on 18th and 19th May at Cadwell Park.

'What a brilliant event over the last two days. In the last 10 months I have done approx 50 days on track and have done the MSV academy, Ron Haslam race School both levels, several exclusive events with focused including tuition from Hodgy, Andrew Pitt and others and by far your event was the best organised, friendly well run and value for money I have been on.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy tuition from 3 different instructor and would like to give a special thanks to Johhny and Nathan. Nathan managed to get 6 seconds off my time in one session, he gave very good clear instruction.

The cake is an inspired thought that makes everyone feel like its a family event.

I will definitely be booking again'

I don't think I can add anything other than a massive thank you to all the people who helped, instructed, took part or just came to watch. It was a brilliant (if a bit damp on Wednesday) couple of days.
