Rubber cushioned front sprockets

Has anyone tried these rubber cushioned front sprockets that now* seem to be available?

Wondering whether they are worth trying to give the transmission an easy life or just stick the good old solid steel ones.

(*now = it's been a VERY long time since I have had to change a chain/sprocket)

They are good actually. I had one on my little 400 gixer and I have one now on the SV. They seem to smooth things out a little and make the transmission quieter.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback Gary. That's what I was hoping for regarding smoothing things out, give the chain a little less stress from the power pulses.

They're standard fitting on my VFR.

would have thought them a bit of a gimmick if youve already got a cushdrive in the back wheel! Also I wonder how well they last as got to transmit all the power through a small piece of rubber....

That's not how they work. The sprocket still transmits the power, it's just that the bottom of the chain runs over the rubber cushion, making it quieter. The one I had on my baby gixer, and the one on my curvy lasted as long as any other front sprocket.

Ah that makes more sense but I still have doubts about how long the rubber actually does anything. Surely the rubber will wear pretty quickly and the chain as it wears will tend, under drive, to move away from it as well!
Any chain is quieter when new but will the damping be effective at the end of its life when its needed more...

I visited the site but it says they are out-of-stock for my 99 but I found full kits on eBay with them :)

Think you can also find pellets on there that you put in your petrol tank and they give you extra power:D
