Rubber Grommets source?
Does anyone know of a good source for rubber grommets? They need to be open (not blanking) and to fit a panel hole of 12mm in a panel that is 3 or 4mm deep, so the groove needs to be 3-4mm wide. With a hole of 8mm.
Everything on eBay has 1.6mm grooves.. which I've tried and they're too tight. Anything else I can find is PVC rather than rubber and usually supplied in packs of 100 with minimum £30 orders from specialist companies who make them to order. I only need 4. |

You could get a kit. Or just cut down a 20mm one ;)

Cut 1 flange off each of 2 of the 1.6mm ones, and vulcanise them together to make a 3.2mm one?
Repeat 4 times.... |

I've tried ones from one of these kits. the inner groove is only 1.6mm wide even on the larger ones though. The panel it's going in is 3 to 4 mm thick. |

I might give that a go. Cheers. |
Re: Rubber Grommets source?
Just had another thought. I'm not sure what you are using it for, but would a stuffer work?

Re: Rubber Grommets source?
They need absorb vibration. It's for mounting a belly pan. Holes in the belly pan are 12mm. 8mm metal tubes go through it with 6mm bolts through those. Ideally rubber, to cut down vibration to the mounting points and not cause stress cracks on the belly pan. I've got the old ones but they're perishing.

Perfect! Cheers... that'll teach me to limit my searches to UK only. |
