MOT tyres pass or fail

2 Attachment(s)
Ive got my bike mot next weekend and just abit worried if my tyres will pass or not. The front is going bald on one side and the rear tyre in the middle is slightly going bald. They are both slightly squared off and i know its best to change them but i dont have the funds for new tyres at the moment so just want to get it past the mot and then get new tyres next month, just wanted to know if it will pass with the tyres as they are. Many thanks

Both look like potential fails to me, hard to give 100% accurate diagnosis from low-res photos though.

These are reportedly rather good and durable:

I agree with Above. They look like they will fail.Beg steal or borrow the money and get them changed if only for your own safety.

I'm happy to run Maxxis 6029 budget tyres on my SV650 :)

I wouldn't take either of those tyres to an MOT

Had these on my SV and also now on my Tracer, they're under-rated for longevity and all weather grip

I am getting Avon Storm on my AL7 soon, got Avon tyres on both our cars and very happy with them. My brother was so impressed with quietness, steering and grip on my car he has just got Avon tyres as well ( he was impressed by the price as well ).

Avon Storm are dual compound as well, a steal at that price..

I'd say the're both likely to fail, definitely the rear.

Paypal credit? 4 months interest free (as long as you pay it off within 4 months or you get stung for all the interest right back from the start). I've used it when I needed something but was going to have the money later on. If you're buying a set then lots of places offer paypal payment online and 2 tryes will be a high enough payment to qualify.

Re: MOT tyres pass or fail

Two things: are you running low tyre pressures? I had a Bridgestone BT 19 (front tyre) that wore like that because I ran it with lower than recommended pressures.
I like the Avon's too (Storm 3D X-M), currently at 12,000 miles...

If you're having trouble sleeping here's everything you wanted to know about tyres and tyre wear (it's a US site so some references have to be reversed since we ride on the other side):
