To me it just looks like tidied up gladius.

I like it, never really liked the Gladius - the exhaust hanger was all wrong. Blah...
If it means the SV650 keeps going then that's a good thing.

I'd like to see them updating the SV650S to match as well, although they still seem to be shifting quite well without the updates.

No. The curvy was cast aluminium. The Gladys reverted back to a heavier steel tube frame and I would guess that this is the same frame.
