Fork seal advice.

Good morning all.

As some of you know, genuine fork seals are better than any pattern option, & dust seals are usually a genuine option only. However Suzuki are a bit excessive when it comes to fork seal prices. They have recently lowered the price of the oil seals, but the dust seals are still a bit of a punch up the nuts.

Honda fork seals are more reasonably priced, & come a a set, i.e. 1 fork seal, & 1 dust seal. They're also equal or better in quality than Suzuki seals. I have spent quite some time cross referencing Suzuki seals to Honda ones's.

For curvy models the Honda part number is; 51490-MCT-003. The proper Honda price is £13.70 + VAT.

I think I've identified which Honda seal fits Pointy models. I'll post the part number when I next get a pointy in for seals.

Cheers.

Good afternoon all.

We've had a busy spring & summer so far, which is why I haven't been on. Too blinking old for spannering during the day, & keyboard bashing at other times :)

I haven't tried to fit Honda seals to a set of pointy forks yet, hence I didn't post the number.
From my reckoning, Honda part number; 51490-MZ1-305 should do the job.
If anyone is brave enough to try it & it works please let us all know.

Cheers.

See if a fellow orger can order a set from here? down to about £9 for the SV1000 I don't know if they fit or not. Someone else may be able to confirm.

Don't suppose anyone knows which Honda seals would fit a GSXR750 K5?

By my reckoning Honda part number 51490 MN8 305 should be the correct size, but I haven't tried it on a K5 specifically.
I did do a set of upside downers on a GSXR track bike some months ago, the customer had purchased the wrong seals, so I had a quick rummage & came up with some Honda seals that fitted perfectly. From memory I think they were the MN8 305's. We only had the forks, so I'm not sure which model they were from.
If your Suzuki has 41mm stanchions then I reckon the 305's will do it.

Cheers.

i'll try and dig some spare seals and dust caps out later for a measure and get back. i do know that the gsxr 600/750 k4-5 are different from all other years and IIR the bandit 1250 seals are the same.
