Difference between 99-02 & K3 CCT?
I have bought from fleabay what was advertised as a K3 cam chain tensioner to replace a dodgy standard curvy version.
It looks identical in every respect to the old one. How can I tell the difference? I thought there was a spring in the top of the K3 CCT but that might have been a dream. :) I'm not too fussed, just curious. It works, so it's going in. The garage door's been frozen shut for a week so I'm going to take advantage of the thaw. |

You needed a K5 if you wanted to get the upgraded CCT

Then that's been one vivid dream I had :D
I was sure the K3 was the upgrade for a curvy and the new design for k5 onwards wouldn't go. |
Re: Difference between 99-02 & K3 CCT?
My K1 has K5 CCTs fitted, fixed my rattly engine.
Instead of just being spring loaded they have a rachet so they wont move back if the spring looses tension |

Oh well, "working" is still an upgrade from "not working". :) |
Re: Difference between 99-02 & K3 CCT?
There were 2 updates to the tensioner-
X-K2 are the dodgy ones. K3 & K4 have the same shaped sealing surface as X-K2 but have the ratchet type internals. K5 onwards have a different shaped base. Can't comment on how well they fit cos I havent done it. K3 should look totally different, sounds to me like you have been mis-sold carb model ones. |
