I.T. Service desk assistant vacancy

We have a vacancy at Lord's : I.T. support team for a 1st line, Service desk assistant.

I know there are a few on here in that area so if anyone fancies this job, or has a mate who they think might wish to apply then please direct them to the Lord's website here:

I can vouch for them being a good team with a great line manager who is also a biker - though his 1198s is off the road again right now surprise surprise!

Not that I'm likely to apply, but why do job adverts never give a guide on salary? My view with such adverts has always been that the money is rubbish, otherwise it would be stated.

Anyone got any clue why salaries are not stated on so many job adverts?

Because if they did, those with the skills and experience would simply not apply. They are probably hoping that someone desperate for a job turns up. But if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Well I agree with that sentiment Tim and it has always been my view. Surely if they want to attract decent candidates they would at least put down a salary range?

Our HR never put one on adverts and always ask candidates for a "salary expectation". Seems short sighted sometimes as they will often disregard people before interview purely on their salary expectation - when that person might have taken a lower amount when questioned...

Or not bothered applying when the salary advertised is not worth their effort? Two sides of the same coin. Why waste people's time (both HR and candidates) sifting CVs based on salary expectation, when advertising the salary will automatically do that sift?

Very true. I guess they are all secretly hoping to get someone totally fantastic who undervalues themselves... Every penny pinching MDs dream I imagine....

Totally the same for me, luckily those who would get angry would never be able to find this forum. Nobody ever believes that a mere woman could earn more that them especially in a so called male environment
