Hartside Cafe burnt down

Just found out Hartside Café has burnt down today, roof totally destroyed :( They had to use a snowplough to get the fire crew up there as snow's still quite bad up there. No one hurt but looks like its out of action, lets hope not forever :(

Insurance will pay for repairs, it's a popular place, so the owners will want it up an running asap

Like a phoenix Geo

As it said in the headlines The famous Hartside cafe.

Might take a while judging by the extent of the damage! :-(

Such a shame. Hopefully there will some temporary facility until reconstruction is complete. Always busy when I have been there.

Been an awful lot of chatter about it on the local north east forums and Facebook pages. I cannot see an end in which it is rebuilt as a cafe. I expect it to be up market and include accommodation. For those who haven't seen the adverts the 300K is before the demolition costs and rebuilding so even a small cafe comes in at £500,000+. That's a lot of bacon butties.
