Moto Cinch and Tyre Down
Thought i'd post this up for anyone who trailers their bike to trackdays,on holiday, etc
Not the cheapest solution to tying your bike down by any means but quickest and simplest. And that was what I was after. After a couple of trackdays last year I noticed some rubbing of the paint on the fairings from ordinary ratchet straps + it cracked a tiny piece :smt013 http://i54.tinypic.com/2eututh.jpg Thats the tyre down, 2 steel plates going into a heavy duty ratchet either side. Clamps over the rear tyre, doesnt touch the bikes suspension and is really solid. 2bh I went home from oulton park last week with just this over the back tyre, bike didnt move an inch the 40 odd miles home over some bumpy country roads. Mine was ready to go in 2 mins and then I helped out 2 blokes with loading and strapping down their bikes, all the while trying not to look smug ;) For complete piece of mind though I use the moto cinch too. http://i51.tinypic.com/24vpoug.jpg The "boot" goes over your footpeg and attaches to the runner you attach to the trailer bed. http://i51.tinypic.com/zji0qt.jpg Simply pull up on the handle and the bike is locked in place. Puts a moderate amount of pressure on the rear shock and none on the front, so saves your seals  the black strap goes over the handle to ensure it cant undo and the red strap goes through any solid piece of the bike and into a clasp for a little extra security How it looks http://i53.tinypic.com/w6tuno.jpg Safe as houses :smt040 I can now drive without constantly checking in my mirror every minute to make sure my bike hasnt taken the guy out behind me. RRP of the moto cinch is £95 so pricey I know. I got a tenner knocked off by a seller on ebay but he doesnt seem to be selling them anymore. Official distributor might be the only way. Tyre down retails for £70 but I got a 2nd hand one off ebay for £42  so always worth keeping an eye out if you fancy 1 |
Re: Moto Cinch and Tyre Down
If you unblurred your numberplate you could just ride it there
Looks like a good set up. I'd love to have a tow bar and trailer |
Re: Moto Cinch and Tyre Down
Haha I was waiting for that :smt098
A boring as ****e 500 mile round trip to snetterton last year, squaring my tyres off along the way, convinced me trailers were the future! Trailer and all the kit is mine, beasty truck generously donated by my dad when I need it  dont think my POS fiesta would quite hack it somehow lol |
Re: Moto Cinch and Tyre Down
Be careful using the Moto Cinch on aftermarket rearsets as the pegs are designed to snap under load. Even moderate bumps would be enough to ping a race peg off and that'd be a disaster if that's all you're using at the time.

Re: Moto Cinch and Tyre Down
Are you using 2 of the Moto Cinch thingummybobs then?, there appears to be one each side.
