2015 Annual Rideout Winner.

I'm pleased to announce that the winner of this years AR is Daddyjob and the GM proposal.

We actually had two proposals this year, the one above another from Matt-EUC. I'd like to thank both of them for putting their hands up to do this but sadly we can only have one winner.

So good luck to Daddyjob and crew and I wish them luck and some good weather.

Here are the details.

Its a fair jaunt but I'm already looking into fun ways of getting down if I do come... I think it may be a two day trip.

It would be great if you could make it! If you need a hand finding some twisty roads to make it more bearable, let us know. Our knowledge of lands near and far should come in fairly useful :)

Just had a quick look on Google and there are several hotels and b&bs nearby. Might be able to persuade Lady Poppy to come along and make a long weekend of it - we both love Avebury which is close by and Wadworth supply plenty of the hostelries in the area.

Nice one Jobmeister.

Sir Trev,

This week I will be posting up a hotel/B&B thread to give people an idea of what's in the area to stay at. Please send me any places that you think look good and i'll be sure to include them.

Awesome, well done Daddio.

This should be good, I had a lunchtime circuit from Devizes to Pewsey and back when I started working there, and just down the road from the campsite we used to start an off road route opposite the Charlton Cat.

I can't wait :) Had some good rides around there

I may ask you for a few ideas on some roads then, seeing as you probably know the area a lot better than i.

That was the plan, make it a bit more central and see if we can get a few more people to join in :)

Re: 2015 Annual Rideout Winner.

I'll put out an invitation in November to all and sundry via an announcement on the forum. The mods and I then select a winner to stage the AR for the summer.
Saying that we only had one entry for the last two years, so voting didn't take long.
Start thinking about it now and let me have your plans in November.
John

Can it be a Foreign AR?!

Surely a MORE accessible AR is better? Considering this year's turnout anyway.

Doesn't matter where it is, it depends if people can be a$$ed to go. This years AR was in Central, Southern England. Close to the M4, A4, M3, A303 & A30.
M4 goes to the M5, which joins the M42 & M6 (North & Wales)
M3 joins the M25 and every motorway the joins onto there (South East, Kent, Essex, London, East of the country & North as well)
A303/A30 goes right down to Cornwall (South, South West

So i think the transport links were great, more the lack of interest from people needs to be addressed.

LOM2 made a trip down from Newcastle to join us & Lenny came from MK. The rest of us were probably within an hour or 2 of the location.

Many people are happy to moan about it but not actually get up and put something together. The reason we put a bid on for this year was because no one else had. We took it upon ourselves to continue a tradition this forum has had going on for years.

Matt-EUC 19-07-15 06:41 PM

I needn't remind you that I also put in a bid for this year, because nobody else had at the time.

What I meant, was that an AR abroad would mean less people likely to attend. I meant more accessible than that, not more accessible than this one.

Sorry that I wasn't clear enough.

Re: 2015 Annual Rideout Winner.

I'm glad you appreciate me making the trip. Not sure if I should tell you it took me an hour and a half to get home or not 😊
I think the location this year was perfect. Probably within 2 hours of about 50% of the UK population and still rural enough for some quiet roads.
