Air box cover screws
Does anyone know what size the screws used to keep the air box lid on a pointy are?
Mine are a little worse for wear after 12 years and 40k miles so would like to replace them before I end up rounding one off or they rust up but don't fancy paying Suzuki prices of a couple of quid per screw. |
Re: Air box cover screws
On my Curvy 1999 they are number 5,

Re: Air box cover screws
I've found the part number but it's not helped me narrow down any non OEM replacements unfortunately and for a set of OEM ones I'm looking at the best part of £10 which I'm not prepared to pay for a couple of Suzuki cheese grade screws :smt044
The ones on my pointy seem strange in that from a quick look they do look like screws rather than any sort of metric bolt which has confused me a little bit, the ones for the curvy look like they could be straight replaced with some nice stainless metric bolts but I don't think that's going to be the case for me :( |

Re: Air box cover screws
That's a good shout actually considering I can just leave one out of the airbox without knackering anything, I might have to go and spend some time comparing screws over the weekend :)

Re: Air box cover screws
That schematic say M5 x 20 and they are mushroom heads - what else do you want to know? Try ebay for stainless versions in low quantity.

See number 16 on here http://images.cmsnl.com/img/partslis...95033_e0a6.gif it's an actual screw with a point. |
Re: Air box cover screws
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass, but if you still have some, can't you just measure them? I don't get it. If they are pointed, do they really need to be? If they are bolts, do they need to be?

To be honest I'm not even sure how you measure screws, they're not quite as easy as just saying M6 fine pitch are they? |
Re: Air box cover screws
You need to specify diameter, length (below the head unless it is a countersunk in which case it is overall length), head style and thread standard, pitch and material. In your case something like M5 x 20 mushroom pozi st/st. Yours would be standard not fine pitch.
