Smoking neutral switch on a curvy
So I have pretty much got my bike back together (I haven't put the fairings back on yet, and the bolt holding the can on sheared, so I have no can on it either).
Cranks over by hand fine, full compliment of fluids, so I think, well let's give it a whirl (battery may hold out or not) it turns over a couple of times, but stops. I try this a couple more times, but I think the battery it pretty much kaput. I then notice some smoke. It dissipates, but the wires from the neutral switch are warm, and one has partially melted the insulation (the black one if that means any thing). I can replace the neutral switch no problem, but without knowing what caused this, I'm probably going to cook another. Any ideas of the root cause? |
Re: Smoking neutral switch on a curvy
Dodgy earth strap perhaps so the starter current is trying to earth via the neutral switch?
