SV650S Fork leg bottom bolt leak

Im really struggling to get the bottom bolt (the one that holds the internal damper tube in place) to seal. I took out both damper tubes and on one fork the bolt sealed straight away using the old copper washer. However the second has been much more difficult and now has a new washer but is still weeping fork oil even though Ive tightened it a couple of times!

Have a look at the area in which the washer sits on the fork leg to make sure it's clean and free of rough patches or imperfections.

Just to close this thread, it wasnt the bottom bolt leaking but the fork seal, doh! Anyway all done (although with a cheapy replacement..) and dry again.

Yes my eyes keep wandering to CBR500Rs or 660 Tiger Sports but the old SV just keeps on and really does everything I need although it is looking a bit worn now especially after spending 5 days under water in my garage in 2019...

Same here. Every now and then I keep thinking of getting an SV1000 as the SV650 is the biggest bike I've owned but then I get on the SV650 and that smooth torque and sheer ,"Throwabailty" and the thoughts pass-away :drink:

I dont think you would find the SV1000 nearly as slick as the 650 both in terms of vibration and gearchange...

That's what I have seen in posts. The SV650 has been the perfect fit for me. I have some shoulder/neck and muscle problems so a heavier bike could well be a chore at my age. I love the ease with which I can control the SV and the engine braking coming into sweeping bends is a constant joy to me along with it's other attributes :)

fun fact about the SV650 weight. its heavier than the GSX-R 750 K4. its just the the SV distributes the weight a bit better.

always had a hankering for a GSXR 750 with a comfort kit :-)

Wouldn't the GSX S750 be that kind of beast?
