Ar 2013

So just thinking, we seem to be able to organise a decent rideout at the drop of a hat, what's the feeling towards a GM organised AR? Do you think us bunch of reprobates are capable?

We have until 15th December to tender our proposal.

So hows about a Wednesday pub meet to throw some ideas around?

It sounds like a cool idea in theory, but I can guarantee at least a few things:
1. It will be a lot of work to organise. You need to be extremely thorough.
2. You won't please everyone and you'll get knee deep in AR politics, which I've heard is a horrible place to be.
3. You personally won't get to enjoy the event because you'll be too busy organising it!

But having said all that, I'd be happy to help out if we wanted to organise one.

Gotta say I have thought about this.

My thought was that I'd want to go to at least one more before plunging in at the deep end, there's a lot to sort out judging by the last one.

Where, who, when, how and why. That's about it surely!

I organised Javelin Rally on me tod last year, granted it was just one day so no camping was needed, but I did manage to organise a recovery vehicle, food, entertainment, a ride route, and some auto jumble, nearly 400 peeps turned up and it was an awesome day!

BTW this was in Germany, over half the peeps that turned up were German and my Deutsch is hardly fluent!

Stopping random German bikers at petrol stations and handing them a poster written with the aid of google translate did get me some funny looks I can assure you.

As said previously, you are entering a place only a few dare tread.......
You could however settle for a mini AR. How about a couple of nights camping with a rideout on the Saturday.
TVSF, remember them?, had a few succesful weekend camping trips so I wouldn't rule it out.

Lots of planning and many pub trips to sort it out. Could be on to something here..... :D

Go for it guys, its actually not that complicated, decent campsite, decent route, job done.

Just to back up what KG said - it's only as difficult as you make it. It helps if you've done full-weekend events before, but it certainly isn't essential.

Re: Ar 2013

I would say let's organise something but not label it the AR. Forget the AR. Just doing a large scale GM meet with everyone invited is exactly the same thing without bringing the pressure of it having to live up to a load of other ARs and 'do the annual event justice'. Labelling the event the AR would be like calling your son Adolf Hitler; he's still your son, but he's going to get off on a bad foot.

Call it the Guildford Massacre, just to feck off the Scots! :D
