2013 cut out

Hey guy`s just wondered if any of you have encountered this issue and have any ideas on how to solve it

the bike is a 2013 sv650s fully faired 5500miles on clock everything appears to be working fine it revs out with no problems when ridden or at static, no misfires or stumbles it pulls strongly and starts instantly

the problem sometimes occurs when fully warm approaching a junction it cuts out , it restarts easily the idle is set at approx 1300rpm and is smooth but only does this occasionally not at every stop

would you think a dealer could diagnose the problem and if so could anyone recommend a good one in Herts/Beds/Bucks

many thanks Rick

Re: 2013 cut out

It doesn't have standard levers i noticed there is no tag on the clutch perch to activate the clutch switch but as the pin on the switch was fully extended and the bike starts fine i didn't think it had an effect

maybe 2 in 10 mainly seems after stopping from higher speeds

never stalled when put in 1st

i tend to think about and change gears with a reasonable amount of time before the junction as i own and ride a tl1000r also, so you kinda get the feel for v twin idiosyncrasies

fit original lever, buy new lever with the clutch tab or fabricate a clutch tab for your current lever. any of these will fix your issue.

have an l2 model myself and am thoroughly unimpressed with how intrusive the new ECU system is...

Re: 2013 cut out

a 2013 SV should not stall as it has an auto idle valve. they are also very sensitive to the safety circuit being messed with so bypassing the clutch switch is a no no.

there are two types of clutch lever. one is the older sliding clutch switch type and the other newer is the push pin clutch switch type. you must get the correct clutch lever. the later lever is the gladdy lever with a tab. the earlier ones dont have the tab.

i will certainly give it a try as i still have the original levers and will let you know if it resolves the issue ....seems to be one of those items that has been developed and fitted for no real benefit lol

This looks like one of those eureka moments ,i have just read the post and see what your referring to so will defiantly re-fit old lever and give it a try even though i love the adjustable ones https://www.flickr.com/photos/134778...posted-public/
