My minitwin build
hi, thought id share my project with you guys.
after moving home from oz and not having a bike for a year and not been out on track for nearly 2 i decided enough was enough. having built my last track bike (rgv250) from a frame, a box of oily bits and a well and truly lunched engine i know how rewarding it can be. I was thinking about building a track bike out of whatever wreck i could get hold of for cheap, but then decided a minitwin would be a hoot.I managed to come across a job lot of sv bits for a fair price, so have since set about getting everything together to assemble it. i havent really done that much, but as i get on ill keep you updated! so far as it stands, frame is powdercoated black http://imageshack.us/a/img248/7425/image5iw.jpg got a couple of boxes of bits, some i need, some i dont! http://imageshack.us/a/img822/5374/image6rd.jpg got an injection motor, fitted carb inlet rubbers, stator & neutral sensor from earlier motor. halfway through swapping flywheel too. http://imageshack.us/a/img805/797/image4vk.jpg i had planned on doing the valve clearances and stuff while its apart, but a couple of the valves arent sealing properly, i believe as its been sat so long. so im going to stick it in the frame do a compression test of the starter and see if itll run, hopefully blow the cobwebs out and then ill do the clearances etc. i should be picking up the rest of the bits to assemble the rolling chassis this weekend, so will go from there. wish me luck! Re: My minitwin build
Ok, a little progress has been made. Will upload some photos tomorrow, but So far...
Neutral sensor, Flywheel and stator from curvy fitted to the pointy motor Rocker covers cleaned up and back on Removed pair valves and made up some block off plates Picked up a load of bits from binky including loom , forks, wheels, swingarm and other assorted parts Cleaned up and painted forks, need to replace dust seals. Theyre ordered but will get swapped when I get the emulators and springs in. Can anyone recommend a fairly reasonable supplier for fork springs? Cleaned up yokes ready to dry fit forks to frame but bearings I got with them are the standard roller bearings but the races in the frame are from a set of tapered, have a new set of tapered coming. One thing i will say,I picked up a rattle gun from machine mart, and it's worth it's weight in gold. Managed to get the flywheel off first go. Also, when I got my flywheel removal bolt I got a spare. If anyone needs a loan or wants it off me let me know. |
Re: My minitwin build
Im not sure how they are rated in racing but i bought Ktech 0.85s and I was very happy with them.

k
motors back together, rocker covers are a bit marmite, but i saw red ones on a jhs supertwin and liked it. http://imageshack.us/a/img255/9066/image7s.jpg rocker covers with pair block off plates fitted http://imageshack.us/a/img94/1637/image8ue.jpg forks cleaned up and now black http://imageshack.us/a/img708/6427/image9h.jpg soon as i get the emulators and springs theyll be fitted along with the new dust seals. ive left the swingarm soaking in degreaser to try and shift the krud, will give it a proper clean up before its sprayed. hopefully will have a roller together by the end of the week as far as springs go, im sure the quality of them wont be an issue, was just wondering if anyone knows where to get a good deal, am leaning towards a nitron race for the rear so may just get the lot from them. |
Re: My minitwin build
I paid 99 posted for mine from ebay. They have an ebay shop

Re: My minitwin build
Are you allowed to run gsxr forks or is that supertwin only?
