I'm sticking with Metzeller again, all though a Z8 Roadtec instead of the M5 sportec. That's lasted 6,000 miles over the winter and a fair few dual carriageway straight line stuff.

Bike's at 22k something now.

I've started commuting again and with the temps hovering aroung 4C these are slightly annoying.

The problem is I can't get them warmed up because of filtering around 15-20 mph. They seem fine after I pass the worst of the traffic and pick the speed up.

Also, the front is pretty squared now (still on the first one), I probably should have changed the rear sooner and keep the front in line.

Probably the final update on these,
Fitted a new front after 12000 miles. it was close to the wear markers, maybe a bit better than the rear tyre, not enough to warrant an MOT advisory but felt like a 50p coin.

With hindsight, I should have changed them as a pair when I've done the rear.

On another note, they's reminded me how weird they were when scrubbing in. The rear wasn't noticeable but with the front you know you've got fresh rubber on.

Got a quote for the new bike (160 rear) from the same garage: £260 fitted (£116+£144).

An increase of £45, I'm a bit shocked to be honest. Is this a normal price?

Unless you're in public services....what about us in the private sector aye....we'll just carry on with no wage increase for another 5 years...

I'm still using Pirella ST's on my explorer, I find they're a good compromise of performance and longevity
