Tiguan?

Anyone on here got a Tiguan? Our grand scenic has just had one too many failures now and don't need the 7 seats anymore so I'm considering a 2012 tiguan. Struggling with the idea of spending so much but the resale value is there where as our scenic it worth next to nothing.

Had one as a company car many years back now. Was ok and decent boot space but definitely preferred my Golf. Suppose it depends on the reason you want that style of car. Wife is disabled which is why we have the scenic now for the height and when we assessed the tiguan we ruled it out due to the large lip that restricted access.

Don't forget the seat version is cheaper.

Looks like the seat has only recently been released so no used ones in my price range

The scenic has leaked it's clutch fluid into the clutch housing so it doesn't make financial sense to spend 400 quid on a car that's worth 700 quid and is proving to be unreliable

Be wary of garage quotes for clutch replacement. They are including a dual mass flywheel in at 400 and most 2005 1.5 dcis do not have DMF. Renault should be able to confirm. Had the clutch done on the last one for 220 all in as it was not DMF and that was 55 plate 2005. Most quotes before i verified with Renault about the flywheel were around the 400 quid mark.

You should get a diesel Tiguan for a good price, diesel vehicle resale values have dropped sharply in last 12 to 18 months or so - (20 to 40%) so don't know if people will hang onto them because they are worth nothing or dump them before they become unsaleable.

Certainly flies in the face of other stuff I have read, 3 members of my family were lifelong Diesel buyers have dumped theirs recently (one was a fairly new Ford Kuga) and bought Skoda direct injection petrol Octavias , which the 'Kuga' brother says gets better mpg than his Kuga anyway, and 0-60 in under 8seconds. Temporary holding up in diesel value may be down to sheer cussedness by Diesel fans, hoping against hope that things will change direction and they don't get banned from just about every city n the world after all (hint - Ostriches do this a lot apparently).
