RE Campsite
Firstly, the event looks good & sounds like it'll be a blast.
I looked on the website for the campsite and they say they only have 30 pitches + caravan pitches. How is this going to fare if 60 people turn up to camp? Is the site big enough to cater for that many tents, bikes & people? I only ask as I would be trekking a fair way and wouldn't want to be disappointed to find the site full up or not able to cater. TIA |
Re: RE Campsite
When I first spoke to the campsite a couple of months ago they were not fazed about the numbers. They had three groups on bikers last year.

Re: RE Campsite
From a quick gander through the links in the details thread, they had 30- 40 there in 1 of the 2 fields with space to spare

Re: RE Campsite
Is this the place we stayed at in 2008 for the run round kielder and into scotland that was extremely wet, where Quiff had to take out a mortgage on the way back to buy me a pie?

Re: RE Campsite
I guess there's going to be a list of bike friendly hotels posted up too for those who don't fancy wearing there water proofs in bed....

Re: RE Campsite
Thats handy.
Now all they need is to be able to accommodate two Sam's and I can take the whole crew. |
Re: RE Campsite
Dates confirmed with campsite for the weekend 20 /21/22 of June.
Had another chat with the proprietor and the likely numbers should not be a problem. Please book with the campsite yourselves letting them know it's with the SV650.org for AR14 and you may well receive a discount to the price on the web site, Motorcyclists at £8.00 per person including bike becomes £7. |
Re: RE Campsite
Ach..... I won't be able to make this as I will not be in the UK that weekend.

I have just been at this place all weekend with the GS forum. Good field, good toilets & showers and a 2 minute walk from the village. FYI go to the Rose & Crown for a nice blonde barmaid! |

Cheers for the info daddy! :-)
So what are the roads like? written with a biro |
Re: RE Campsite
I went there from Sheffield via the back roads, considering the weather the were fairly good fun! On Saturday our ride out went up to the Scottish border and onto Jedburgh then to Bamburgh Castle (Edit: For anyone interested here is the linky Andy http://www.bamburghcastle.com/ ) for lunch. Then Sunday we used the A68 down to Teeside or a bit beyond then some more back roads to Squires Café.
Majority of the roads were good fun-great scenery, good twistys bit & enjoyable to ride (if the weather isn't torrential!) I'll upload the route we rode when I can download them from my Sat Nav. |
